Open the muzzle and ram it all the way down the throat, until the swallow reflex kicks in. Works every time and works like a charm. There's no way he'd get it back up, once I ram it, it's gone! Once when I gave Drake a pill and my elbow was at his front teeth, I thanked him for liking me enough not to chomp :)

Mash up his pill to powder and put it in a tablespoon on cheese wiz or wet cat food. My dobe was a bit of a dip I would pretend to eat the pill myself , he figured it MUST be good and he would eat them like candy :)

Do you have a pill popper? It's a plastic stick with a rubber end that you stick the pill in and a plunger on the other end, so you can ram that in their mouth without sticking your fingers in the mouth. I work at a vet's office and it is really handy for those angry kitty cats that you have to give pills to. When they hiss at you, you can stuff a pill down their throat and keep your fingers!

Yr: yeah I tried that I don't know where Houdini is at in Indiana"s pedigree but he's there and she can manage to bring it back up and spit it out I have to coat it butter then go up to my elbow then hold the muzzle shut such an ordeal I just make my vet give me injections, No probs with anyone else just this one. You name it I've tried it. Crush it to powder put it on her food and she won't eat it. I'm pretty sure she's just got the typical bitch attitude. LOL

LOL YR I do too it keeps life interesting!! It is definately amusing to have a constant match of whits with the dogs, watching them wheels turning trying to figure out how to get out of something or get away with something. There are times I end up laughing way to hard to correct when I should, and they all know if I can get her to laugh at it I'm good! LOL

Pill Pockets made by Greenies !! Are Awesome !!
http://www.greenies.com/en_US/products/dogpillpockets.aspx
They are soft, you slide the pill right in and close over the top. I buy the large ones from tractor supply or order online, because they are large enough to divide for two or three pills, so you really get twice the amount of pill pockets. If a dog or a puppy has never had them before I give an empty one or two. I have not had a dog refuse yet. They make life sosooooooo easy !!!!! Most dogs love them so much they don't even think of chewing, and the pill is down and they never knew. If I need to, I don't even have to go in the kennel, I can just give through the bars, because they snatch them like delicious treats.
