I suspect that even the most successful breeders are going to get hungry this next year and to move their dogs, they are going to have to deal, and thus, it may become a buyers market.
I have always felt that quality counts in the purchase of anything. My failure on this purchase was my ignorant inability to recognize quality or the lack thereof and I simply trusted in the breeder.
Take your time and don't spend a single dollar more than you want to pay. I get a kick out of the breeders that advertise, "serious buyers only" and those that bother to advertise, but don't list any prices. Those are clues to me, so right or wrong, I now move on without giving them any further consideration...... my time and money is also valuable.

 I neglected to add:

In fairness to the breeders, some pups of a given litter may have more value than others.

Sometimes there are pups within a litter we feel are worth more than others. Sometimes we want to leave ourselves flexibility to give somebody we believe will go on and train/title/show the dog, or somebody who really NEEDS a good dog for some reason (service?) but may not have much money at the time, a break, instead of sending the pup into the backyard of obscurity. Sometimes we just flat don't know what to price them at at the time we place the ad because its hard to say what their temperament and structure, coats, etc., are going to be like when they only weigh 1 lb.

Gator:  DOnt feel like the lone ranger..We have another board member who got the same dish of pickles you did..One health problem from the beginning to now...

Sucker you in because of the name of the  line and the reputation of the names .  Doesnt make the puppy any better or healthier or leave a good flavor in your  mouth when the breeder wont do anything about it ,either. Don't know the answer to it but I know one thing, if I sold a pup with bad legs, a hernia and dermadectic mange for over 2,000.00  and I did nothing to help rectify it I would be out of business many years ago.

Just one example..GATOR.. BUYING AND SELLING IS A MONEY MARKET RISK.

THERE IS ALWAYS A SELLER AND THERE ARE ALWAYS BUYERS.

Same thing there also. I helped another member find an adult male earlier this year and It was a party in a half..She and I both learned and earned a degree in Marketing.   Both of us have nerve damage from 5 months of it..Would never believe what we found out, learned and it was quite an experience.

Thanks and I understand. Perhaps I have now paid my dues.

I am awaiting a call back from my breeder. I willl also be fair with her, unless I believe I am getting lip service, in that case my pups registered name will be;  "No-Nunners von der (breeders kennel  name)", thus publicly and permanently attaching this event to her breed line and business . Just my way of flying the flag. LOL

I think now would be a good time to go.  Seems like dog prices are better right now.  The Euro is not as strong against the dollar as it was.  Veronica
