Just in case anyones vet wants to argue on the uselessness and harm of jabbing your dog annually or more then once for that matter. Nobody reading this is smarter then Dr. Schultz, he is one of the preeminent experts in the field of veterinary vaccines and twice as knowledgeable as any 10 vets on the subject. Good ammo.

Different States/Counties have different requirements as to Rabies Shots...

A 3 year vaccine is the same one that's given as the 1 year...Usually as a puppy...the first Rabies Shot is only good for 1 year...then in the States that recognize it...It's good for 3 years...

I think different people have different thoughts on the amount of vaccinations that are needed...But they're not needed every year...but...some are needed more often or are just needed...depending on where you live and what might be in your area...

Thank you Gigante for supplying a 2nd support on the vaccine question.

Now the next challenge is to convince my training club that vaccines are not needed annually.  Regular Smile

Thank you all for responding.

Continual information on this is always welcome.

Theres lots more out there, if you need it :) These go out to the owners of the dogs and puppies I place.  Unarguable ammo, for the vets who forgot medicine and science tends to move forward. :)~

The WSAVA guidelines specifically advise that dogs properly vaccinated with MLV core CDV, CPV-2 and CAV-2 vaccines (distemper, parvovirus and adenovirus) “would have ≥98% protection from disease”.  They recommend that dogs should not be vaccinated more frequently than every three years, and that immunity to viral disease lasts for at least seven years, but probably for life.  This is based on direct challenge studies, and on serology.  They call for annual checkups and possibly titer tests to replace revaccination each year.  - See more at: http://www.drfoxvet.com/library/special-reports/companion-animals-care-behavior-and-health/over-vaccination-risk#sthash.O3XtGKHS.dpuf

I can't imagine vaccinating every year for anything. I don't care if you live with a rabid pet skunk in your yard, your dog is just as protected with getting his rabies every three years as he would be with getting it annually.

once my dogs have their distemper at 1-1.5 years of age, that's the end of those, and they only get rabies every three because they have to.
