Perfect example of why you should always have a back up collar when using a pinch outdoors. As the mal escapes his pinch and i can't blame him.
Not how i'd train for fireworks, not how i'd train for a lot of thing, be hell who am i? Just some body holding the leash.
Wonder how they train for gunfire?

They have planned a trip to Afghanistan, the dog's will be required to maintain a down stay in the middle of a fire fight in Helmand Province.

At least they weren't near a busy road with big trucks or anything.

by dragonfry on 08 July 2013 - 22:07
yessum i did think those monkeys looks sad.
I've seen some wonky training on the net, but that's nutty.
wonder if they train the sit stay with a barrel and an over head leash on a swing set? Dog falls off or move he chokes out. Unless the handler steps in to save him. Kholer any one?

Come on, dragonfry, even Kohler wasn't THAT bad!

who are you to talking about? William Koehler?
If you are - I would appreciate it if you wait until you come up with a systematic approach that trains millions of dogs as pet, law, military, sport, tv shows as Koehler before you bash him. If that is who you are referring to.
Though there are some practices in that day and age by him and others i dont agree with. He had a very systematic approach to training based on positive punishment to take a dog from green to "finished" in whatever discipline. This man could still be learned from in many ways.
And comparing this abusive video (a prime ex of flooding) to Koehlers methodology is not even a comparison. Nor did he use extreme flooding as a training tactic.
