Many GSDs are affectionate and cuddly. Some aren't snugglers. It depends partly on the dog's temperament and partly on how you raised her. If you don't have a problem with her being a cuddly dog, then it's fine.

For a GSD sure, for you I guess it will depend on how big your lap's are lol hahaha :) When one of my females was a puppy I let her sit on my lap's when driveing lol it wasn't that much fun at 45lb lol and now well I don't even want to think about it. The good thing is GSD's are smart and is easy correct what you screw up :) lol I guess they belive in us they give us so many chances lol

Pharaoh

by Pharaoh on 10 January 2009 - 03:01

Since Pharaoh is allowed on the furniture, he snuggles up and puts his head on my lap. At night he hops up on my bed.  He is very light on his feet and has perfected hopping up without waking me up.

None of my dogs get on the furniture or beds but one time out of nowhere I'm getting ready  to climb into bed and I got surprised with Agar taking a leap on the bed.  I'm not sure what got into him, but no sooner than he hit the mattress he kept going clear across the other side and looked at me like "sorry, couldn't help myself, just had to see what this thing felt like just one time, won't happen again". LOL  And after that day he never tried again.

Sometimes they'll try to push themselves on me if I'm on the couch and I'm not paying much attention to them.  They'll put their paws on my lap and lay their head on me til I pet them.  But none of my dogs are overly "cuddly" they have to be in the mood and 9/10 times it's when I'm NOT!

Mine are allowed on the sofa for a 5 - 10 min squeeze, never on the bed.  Buddy's squeezie time gets longer as he gets older.  He also has an unhealthy dollop of dumb insolence going on... "I'm old and you don't follow through with your rantings, so... ".  My fault!

Kalibeck

My dogs are all 'cuddlers'....they are not allowed on furniture or bed....my husbands rules, not mine. Kali used to come up on the bed with me to use the computer. She was always into watching whatever I was looking at....she would whine or yip at especially nice pictures of GSDs...it's funny, she seemed to know and was more lively when we were looking at males! My little Ansgar, when she wasn't feeling well would climb all 60# of her into my lap & curl up, lift her head & put it on my shoulder, so she was breathing right into my ear. Now she's well, she's much more independent. Her sister doesn't cuddle, but she does kiss, so fervently, such a 'Passionetta von Dog!' And Beckett, he's my Bud. He will sit & lean in, bonk me like a cat, & if I'm not paying enough attention, he'll put 1 paw politely on my knee and lift himself just high enough to make eye contact....& ducks back down to sit next to me, lolls his head back over to look at me like he's saying,"Sorry, I was just checking...!" And Wolf....well, Wolf has a purrrrrfectly wonderful love, my daughter's bluefaced Siamese boy likes to nap on his nose, & he puts up with that, seems to like it, according to Yvonne! But that's what's so wonderful about our breed, they can turn it on & tear up the field, & then be your lap dog! jackie harris

I've had to stop letting mine up on my lap as she's too careless with her head and feet.

Caught me on the nose with her head at Christmas, thought she'd broken it.

Georgia will lay on my feet and keep them warm, which is fabulous in the winter. If I'm upset she'll come and cuddle with me. She does sleep on the bed, curled up in a ball by my feet. She is not this way with anyone else - she adores the kids and is affectionate with them, but is "my" dog. Interestingly, she is out of Zygo vom haus Sevens. Opal

thanx for sharing everybody. :-D

spunky is very careless with her head. the more excited she gets, the more she throws it around, whining happily the whole time. she caught me on the chin so many times i learned to hold my head sideways when she is on my lap. lol. i encouraged the lap-sitting because my heart dog, a lab/gsd/husky, was never cuddly, and i always wanted a cuddly dog. i sure have one now!
