I'm posting a picture from an Advertisement.

I wanted to ask that if the dog sits on his hips as in the picture instead of his legs. Can this cause Hip Dysplasia.

My dog when tired tends to throw his legs and sit on his hips instead of the hind legs. My vet has adviced that I should train him not to sit on his hips.

Please advise

cheers

I have been told if the dog is not sitting differently because of pain or discomfort that it is most likely just the way he prefers to sit.  Read the "puppy lankiness question" post. I had the same concern about my dog sitting rolled to one side.

My Male pup had gotten sick a few weeks back due to some stomach infection. He has recovered now but his sitting posture has gotten affected. He tends to sit sideways especially when he is a bit tired. I want to know how can this be corrected? Is this an issue with the hind legs? Does some supplement for the loosening of the hinds help? Or correction through trianing is required?

Advice please

cheers

I tried searching for the post you mentioned. Could not find it. Could you point me to it?

Thanks

He just looks relaxed to me. I've had dogs who would sit with "bad posture": thighs spread like wings and the bottom of their back feet facing inward - none had dysplasia.
