Someone asked if I have ever heard of a blue shepherd. I told him it doesn't exist. He said yes, like a white german shepherd. I said that doesnt exist. He said,"you've never seen a white GERMAN shepherd?" and I asked if he meant a white american shepherd. Is there really a blue shepherd out there? Because I'm looking for a green one.

This might explain it. http://www.4gsd.net/colours.html

Yes. They exist. They are the product of a dillute gene I believe. Blue is a faulty color, excluded from SV breed survey eligibility. Of course, sooner or later someone will decide to make a fortune breeding "rare blue shepherds," if they haven't already. I have also seen blue sables. Talk about ugly... The yellow eyes are really awful. Shelley

That's messed up! They did say that they can turn a shade of green and yellow as they get older.

I think they look neat, I see them allot in Malinois too. Never seen a blue GSD in person.

wait until you see an orange GSD! A friend had a pup that's all light red (no saddle at all). Yes, there are white german shepherds, I have one - the parents were B&T and a very light silver sable. The UKC considers them a seperate breed and has them listed as White Shepherds. Here's the link to one of the national clubs www.unitedwhiteshepherdclub.org or www.awsaclub.com Most white shepherds are registered as GSD with the American Kennel club

I understand that there are WHITE shepherds, but go to Germany and ask where you might find a white GERMAN shepherd
