This is cruel!! - Page 1

 Was in browsing ads today, and noticed this ad submitted on 6/15 from a drsinan. This is someone in Turkey trying to sell puppies and this is the photo submitted of the puppies sire. Am I wrong or does this seem a little cruel?

let's see: dog chained out in open, on bare dirt, no shade except 'dog house' which is a pile of cement blocks with a corrugated iron slab roof, held down by rocks. Looks like a 5 gal. bucket for water, which he could easily knock over if the dog got its chain tangled around it.

Yep, I think that's pretty deplorable, and no one in their right mind would buy a puppy from that person. I've seen that photo before, and thought of reporting it, but didn't.

Very disgusting. This appears to be the type of tie out situation of dogs that I loathe. I bet its this dogs whole life...

We need to keep in mind different countries have different customs.  I perhaps don't like the tie out, but there may be reasons for it we don't understand.

I agree with sueincc.  Remember this is in Turkey, not the US.  The dog looks well fed as does the female in the other add.   For all anybody here knows, every cent they get goes toward the dogs, they are proud of their puppies, proud enough to post them here. 

It's Turkey. Who are you going to report it to? People, find something better to do with yourselves.

"It's Turkey", would be the easy answer to explain this, however, I see this all of the time in my own neighborhood, no matter what neighborhood I am living in at the time.  Sucks to be a dog.

Right now, there is a home about a half mile from me, on my road, that has approximately forty cages full of small long haired dogs, that I have never seen out of their cages.  Each cage is above the ground about 3 or 4 feet, with wire flooring, wire sides, with a small enclosure on one end (the best way to describe these cages is that they are like your typical rabbit hutch cage).  The cages are approximately 2 or 2 1/2 feet wide and 4 or 5 feet long.  Each cage has one or two dogs in it, with matted hair.  I can only assume they have a food bowl and a water bowl.  I drive by it twice a day and it sickens me.  I have contacted the Humane Society and they stated that as long as the dogs have shelter, food and water, there is nothing they can do about this situation.  They said this because of my description of the situation and have not actually went to look at these caged dogs.  You would think that they would at least check out my "assumption" that the dogs have water and food bowls.

From my observations, which is at least driving by it twice a day, at varying hours (and this does not take into account the many times my wife and son drive by it and have the same observations), that these dogs have extreme minimal human contact (in fours years of living here, none of us have EVER seen an actual person at this location, although we have observed vehicles changing positions in the driveway), no out of the cage time, and basically a terrible life.  I cringe everytime I go by them.  I have actually stopped there on two occasions in order to pretend to be looking into purchasing a pup, just to get a close up look at what is going on, but no one is ever home.  Once in the day time and once in the evening.  The house and property itself is not a bad looking place.  This is the real diffinition of a puppy mill, and there is nothing I can do about it.  The director of the humane shelter here, and the dog warden here, won't even go check it out because I described them as having shelter, food and water, even though I am only assumming the food and water part because I can see the dogs alive inside the cages.  I should have said "they do not have food and water" or at the very least, I should have said they may not have it.  I think I will try and get a digital picture of this place sometime in the near future and post it here.  There are no signs advertising anything for sale or anything like that.  I always wonder what happens to the dogs in these situations that get to old to breed.  Are they PTS, or dropped off on the road, taken to the dog pound (I doubt that though), or just put in another cage and let starve to death and then buried out back.

Well see my point exactly. If you wanna be in someones business, do it locally. Plenty of dogs tied up in America to get in an uproar about!

Dog looks perfectly healthy to me. Dog is probably tied out to do what he is supposed to do, alert the family when people are in the area. It is funny how people are so quick to judge others with zero information.

My dog dumps her water bucket every day and hasn't died yet.
