No I am not anti government....that's a serious charge and totally unwarranted. Not a prepper either, but self sufficient and not beholden to any gov handouts. I served in the Army during the Viet Nam war...anti gov and volunteering for the military are a contradiction. I am vehemintly anti communism, anti totalitarianism...and detest any one who would trample the us constitution. I am very very pro America.
A little 22 long rifle for distance hundred feet up a tree, or a little 410 shotgun for close. And I have eaten any squirrels I've had to shoot because of egg robbing from the hen house and the duck yard, and robbing the vegitable garden, or I skinned and gutted them and fed them to dogs....coyotes slaughtered all 35 egg layer ducks, and 45 hens,, so egg theiving squirrels are not a problem at this time.

Once again, the proof is there in Australia. They did it, and they have the statistics to prove it works.
Serious charge? You going to report me? LOL My apologies, then, I am only being honest on how you come across to me.
What does it look like to "trample the Constitution"? Seems to me wanting common sense gun control, and background checks and waiting periods etc., usually end up in that description!

Australia is an island continent with the most stringent immigration laws preventing the uncontroled open borders allowing unvetted invasion of their country like the current us policy. Also, Australia is not overcrowded like rats over breeding in a cage and turning psycho killing each other like the countries plagued with mass killings...so not a fair comparison at all. Look at the countries in EU that have been attacked lately...tough gun laws, not stemming the slaughters.

Businesses are private property and they can choose to keep themselves gun free. In some places it's actually the smart thing to do.
I'm not anti-gun. I just think people put too much stock in owning one. Some people, even if there is nothing to legally keep them from owning one, shouldn't own one. Just like there are people who were capable of getting driver's licenses but are a danger to others and themselves on the road. The same stupid and irresponsible behaviors some people demonstrate behind the wheel, driving drunk, can be seen with some gun owners. Alcoholics should not own guns. Then you have people who just aren't competent, not in a mentally ill way, who are just plain bad drivers. With guns these kinds of people end up shooting themselves in the foot. Then you have Dick Cheney who almost killed his hunting buddy. Adam Lanza's mother could legally purchase weapons but somehow she thought that taking her mentally ill son shooting, and allowing him access to the guns, was a good idea. There is no idiot test for gun ownership.
If you do own a gun and if you carry it, it isn't to be a hero. It's for personal defense. It's possible that a gun owner might be a hero in some given event but it isn't the reason to carry and most people aren't nervy enough or skilled enough to be a hero anyway. I can't say that all Americans should not be allowed to own guns. It's like the car analogy. Just because some people will drive drunk or text while driving or just plain drive like menaces we don't all lose the privilege of driving (or drinking). I lived in an inner city that wouldn't allow me to own, let alone carry, a gun and I would have if I could have. I had a few experiences where I got lucky but had they unfolded a bit differently I would have needed a gun. So I can't entirely dismiss the self-defense argument for gun ownership. I just think that for most Americans they will never need a gun for self-defense and for many it won't help them if they do. I think we need a better way to keep some people from getting guns. The founders didn't have to consider all of the variables we have to consider today.
And yes, the gun lobby by pushing the idea that Obama is going to take everyone's guns away and that they will be helpless against violence is encouraging people to buy guns. It is pushing the image of the gun as a symbol of freedom. I lived in NJ. It has ridiculously strict gun laws. That wasn't because of Obama. The same in NYC. People are so worried about the federal government when it's state and local governments that are restricting (or not restricting) gun rights.

And contrary to popular belief (or should I say Republican propaganda) Chicago does not have the strictest gun control laws in the country. I'm sorry to burst that bubble.

998 mass shooting since Sandy Hook
only 4 involved Muslims
998 involved males.
But yeah, must be a Muslim problem,
and not a male violence problem.
God given by the constitution. God gave us the constitution? LMFAO. WOW. I still for the life of me can not understand how banning assault type weapons is taking away your guns. That has to be about the most retarded statement the pro-gun folks say. I mean seriously and for people to keep repeating it is insane. No one on this forum has even came close to saying that but you guys keep repeating it as if saying it over and over make it true. Show me one link where politicians have said it. You can't so you are repeating something no one has said and trying to make it real. SMH. I think people should have guns, I don't think assault type guns should be legal. BTW, Hans - Reagan, Bush 1 and plenty of other republicans in the past have also voiced that same thought. Reagan said it as clear as day. I posted his exact words in one of these threads. You guys whine about Hillary taking money but have you seen the NRA contributions to politicians? Republican politicians do not have the best interest of the people in mind because they are owned by the NRA. Keep whining though and I will be glad to serve you some cheese.
"As long as anybody who’s got only two wheels on the road can walk into a store and buy a f*cking killing machine like an AR-15 or something, this is just going to go on. It’s really up to us."
"A lot of these guys are nobodies who see their way to some kind of stardom by creating an act of mass terror. And, of course, the sad thing about this is that we remember the killers long after their victims are forgotten, and that’s one of the things that makes this a self-perpetuating act. I would argue that someone like the man who shot all these people in Orlando, he may have pledged allegiance to ISIS but before that he was a spouse abuser and somebody with a lot of anger. And I think that in a lot of cases these acts are perpetrated by people who may put some political icing on the cake, but basically they’re just f*cking crazy."

GSD admin where did I say that mentally ill should be able to buy a gun? Can you point it out to me.
Beer gut? Wow So this is a new one on me. All fat people who have "beer gut" according to you drink alcohol and that is why they should be prohibited from having guns. Second amendment then should not apply to people with beergut.
You do not have to say it ...but I know that this is a personal attack aimed on me since I am fat. FYI Well I am fat because I have diabetes and I do not drink except galas of wine on New Years or such. But thank you for revealing here your thought process.
