I think Berhnard Flinks has placed in top three in BSP, many people feel winning BSP is highest honor. Ivan has probably won Worlds in Mal, besides national in America.

Gustav I believe he has 2 worlds, with mals. All bred and trained by him.

The BSP is a great competition to Win but i cannot see it comparable to the WUSV where upwards of 40 countries compete in Competition and around 140 plus handlers and Dogs it is the ultimate prize to win in Dog Sports

I think different.
It doesn´t matter if you compete in BSP or WUSV, it´s difficult to get there, no matter which trial you choose.
It doesn´t even matter if you are the winner of this event or not, ONE screwed up exercise at this special day is enough to end up as 20. or 30. out of 60.
The real "work" is done far earlier - you need to qualify - once, twice, three times....
The " best " trainers for sport.... for me are the guys and women who were able to qualify several times with several dogs, competing on a high level.
And the " very best " trainers for sport are these, who are still working in their home clubs, helping the beginners, not asking for money, sharing their knowledge, glad to see a good dog, no matter, who is the owner.

Steve, I understand your point....believe me....but some people view it the same way as say basketball is viewed....the Olympics has over 100 countries with some of the best players in each country, but the NBA Championship is considered a much higher accomplishment because the collective talent in the league is superior to any country in the world. I agree with Susie in that anyone that places in top three in Germany, Belgium, Finland, Czech Rep, and other top countries is very very good. Right now Ronnie is as good as it gets in IPO.

I would agree with Cliff and Susie, I also highly recommend Bernhard Flinks. Bernhard has competed at the LGA and BSP many times, he has coached and trained members from his own SchH club to very high levels. He has competed at the BSP with his active Police K-9's. Dogs so hard and aggressive that few could ever handle them. Bernhard is a great guy, great teacher, top competitor and top K-9 handler. You would be very fortunate to train with him.

this question is not possible to answer unless the OP defined "best", highest accumulated points over all comps, most first places, most dogs to international/national comp level......hell i rate a guy in the US as awesome cos he takes bulldogs from dubious sources including fighting rings and saves their life by bringing them and new handlers into competing in IPO, prolly never titled, i don't know, could any of the above do that?
what sport, are any of these guys better than susan garret or the like, what about the dancing with dogs winners are they the best????
would also like to add bart b to my original list, is he the best?
what about all the old school guys, rememeber when dogs were so much better than they are now if you believe the old timers or are we just talking about contemporary guys?

FYI
West Coast GSSC and Lance Collins.
I just found this out on our website.
28 members to WUSV! With 15 different dogs and 8 different handlers. 5 competing at this year at National Level IPO 3 from same club.
Its pretty impressive for one club.
And champion this year.
The club it self is hard on handlers for sure. It's a family environment but it is not a social , lets talk, kinda place. Man, if your dog is not focused on you, you hear 5 people screaming! It is humbling.
I think the best trainers has to cultivate a culture of high expectations and where brutal honesty is welcomed. Many cannot deal with this.
PS. Where is Yogi Zank on this list? That dude is a fantastic teacher and proves his stuff on the field!!!! His OB is sick!!!!!
