Blitzen, many congrats for your "grandbaby's" achievement. It's
excellent that you get feedback from his owner/handler. Must
make you really proud that the dog is doing so well, even if
your own input was minimal ?
Can't talk about US standards
but I do know that getting UD in the UK demands some good
work on the part of the owner, not to be sneezed at. May be 'basic'
by direct comparison to IPO, but its noticeable how many GSD owners
do NOT attempt it ...
Your avatar pic is showing up as the old How To Handle Stress
poster at the moment, for me - looking forward to seeing a photo
eventually !
As to the Disliking troop of monkeys, they should Get A Life;
what a waste of their energy hanging around finding your posts
so's they can just click on thumbs down, what dorks they are.

Blitzen
A big congrats to your female for producing a son who is earning the titles his handler is working towards. It must be a nice feeling when a Pup you breed is working well. having never bred Pups myself from any dog i do not know but it must give the breeder a lot of pleasure.

Thanks for the nice comments on my female. She a good example of why to never give up on a dog.
I'm not the breeder of record on the UDT dog, but I'm proud of my dog for having produced him and he was my pick of the litter at 6 weeks, a frozen semen litter. She was somewhat of an sad case when I got her, not a very confident dog, 8 homes and 2 litters in 3 1/2 years through no fault of her own, just a long line of bad luck and a few owners who considered her a throw away. Her breeder tried very hard to get her in a forever home, but something always went wrong. Her last owner said she was too protective, I thought that would be a good reason to take her
. Since I have her, she's earned her CD, RN, CGC, and AD and ended up receiving the GSDCA's Dual Performance Award and the first to earn their Dual Award of Excellence for having her AKC CH, normal hips and elbows, passed their temperament test, and earned dual OB titles - the GSDCA also recognizes the AD and the BH, very few Am bred AKC CH's have those titles/degrees.
Most well bred GSD's will bounce back, all they need is love and continuity in their lives, not passed from home to home every 5, 6 months.

Another UDX leg was earned at the GSDCA NS along with an agility leg and 4th in novice. He was the only 1/2 German male in the entire conformation show.
PS: to earn a UDX leg the dog must qualify in Open B and Utility B at the same show. It takes 10 legs to earn the UDX title.

Thanks, everyone. His owner has worked very, very hard with him. We think he may be the youngest GSD to earn his UDT, he was 24 months. Does anyone know?
