Well I will be the odd one and say that I do love using treats for puppies... for me it is the easiest way to do foundation work with a young puppy. I like frozen biljac as it is easy to handle, can roll it into a ball so easy to keep in your pocket, and havent met a dog who doesnt love it.
I also like Natural Balance rolls. I buy a roll and cut it up into bite size pieces and store in baggies in the freezer until I am ready for them.
I have also used things like cut up hot dogs, cheese, bil jac treats, and various other dog treats. I use very small pieces, as I do ob several times a day (very short sessions) with my puppies.
Like others said, you do not need treats for bitework. But you can also start tracking now using the same treats!

I normally use toasted bread dipped in peanut butter for puppies.
For bigger dogs I use sausages sliced, dipped in garlic butter and
baked in the oven for anout 15 mins.
try it ,works wonders.

hi,
food treats didn't work for my gs. I just found a toy he loves, a squeeky pig, it hasn't failed to get his attention yet and i reward him with play. He just wouldn't take food once we were away from the house.
