To answer your question GSD Admin - no, I do not condone bad behaviour, either in person or behind the keyboard. I understand that managing a site is sometimes challenging, but it takes many types of characters to add diversity and depth to any site. Perhaps you will give VK (since this thread is about him) and others a chance to revisit? Conditional maybe, but a chance nonetheless?     I feel there are people missing from here who deserve another chance - maybe they will be back, maybe not.    But think about it?

The reason activity in the forums is not a make or break deal is because the other parts of the site get way more traffic. Do we want to loss activity in the forums, nope but I am not going to change what we are doing to get a few more people involved. We are doing the right thing here whether it is VK, you or God if they misbehave when asked numerous times to stop, they will be removed. Almost every person on this thread said it one way or another it all starts with respect, compassion and civility. It bothers me to ban people but there comes a breaking point when it is just better to break that relationship instead of allowing it to carry on.

There are only 3 to 5 people who I will never allow back, the rest all have a chance. Lets leave it there and move on.

I have been reading this post from the beginning.. I am not trying to stir the pot.. but have a legit question about this whole thread... MrDarcy and GSDAdmin bot said that VK asked to be banned from this site and that his request was granted.. then on page 9 GSDAdmin said "will VK get another chance? Probably down the line - I will never say never but I am not saying it will happen either."
To me this sounds like VK did not ask to be banned but was banned as a punishment?? It is just confusing because one time I read that he asked admin on this site to ban him and then on another post I read that he was banned for his "actions"..

Again not trying to be rude to anyone or discredit the admin on this site...

I agree that everyone should treat people with RESPECT whether it is in person or on a forum. There is no excuse for rude comments or behavior. one of my major pet peeves is when someone is disrespectful to another person.. If you (not singling anyone out.. the "you" is in general terms) get into a heated conversation whether on a forum or in person... take a moment to gather your thoughts and make sure that you are able to be clear and polite in what you say.

I personally have never had Pete say anything rude to me... In the beginning though I sure saw some rude comments made to him about his training and his dog.. He took most of the peoples comments (whether rude or polite) to heart and changed his training... and the change was for the BETTER for his dog.

My fault all the way. The focus I guess has shifted from the reason to what led up to the ban. While it is true VK was banned because he said he wanted to get banned. He was also rude in the past, he was asked to tone it down. So, when he posted the warning to do something to get banned, he was then banned. We aren't going to wait to find out what someone is going to do to get banned. Especially those who have been given short bans in the past.

There are members right now from the past who are no longer banned, they just don't know it because either they left or they have been here but just never bothered to log in. VK in the future maybe unblocked but it is all up to him to come back. I do have an email listed here and anyone is more than welcome to use it. To contact me for any reason.

I can't stress enough that robust debate is very welcome but our approach has to get better. It just has to, why can't we be a trendsetter in that regard, our dogs deserve it. We deserve it, I/we expect it and it isn't much to demand of ourselves.

GSD Admin, I would, why not? And I really believe several others would do, too. Even the "hardliners" should know that there is a difference between convictions about dogs and personal attacks, worth a ban.
Blitzen didn´t post for a couple of days, does anybody know if she is okay? I pm´d her but got no answer yet.

I personally like blitzen .I think she is very knowledgeable. And I would say she is a nice lady .We had words at an earlier stage but we have moved on from that . She is very passionate about her dogs and so she should. As iv said before I think thicker skin is needed by all members

Well, in regard to members members being rude or ofensive, and I have nothing personally against VK never hurt me or offended, but yes is a bit rude / crude. Although I am in this forum recently, like almost everyone and have learned tons!

I was also a member of a national forum, the "Arca de noé", and although at a lower level, also learned a lot and like to think I helped some people. However totally abandoned the forum. There is a member that particularly annoys me solemnly ... he is the most impolite person I know (or at least in the top 5), no forum needs people like that ... just keeps new members and even the old member away... However, I did not realize much of the problem on this forum ... Some people may be crude but are usually not offensive (at least in my book), but it was removed or changed posts  no one can judge what does no know.

My mother used to say a very right thing "my freedom ends where that of others begins," no one should offend no one and what is offensive to me may not be for others, it does not make it stop being offensive.

If there was anyone who was offended with him, and was able to prove and sustain those charges, he has to be punished. With that said, I wish all the best for the VK.

I apologize for the intrusion, I have nothing to do with the case, but I think this discução and "bring back banned members" did not make much sense ... If I hit someone, apologizing will not make the fact not have happened ...

Sooooo curious as to what garnered a TEN page thread on this..had to read it..

 

Add a tab to the "forum lists"...
the banned people could only post in THAT tab..

Call it "hard core" or something...   if you want INTO that tab, then you have to click a butthurt disclaimer or something..
It would be like that Celebrity Mud Wrestling show they used to have...

Dunno how feasable that is, but it would be funny!!
