What has become of what was once "America's Dog"? Which problems do you feel has become the breed's downfall?

by Blackrose on 04 June 2007 - 17:06

Hello, a problem are the American Bullys those under the APBT run, although there is not. Furthermore, gamebreed the lines are declining and some breeders get themselves dog where starting from the 7 generation no more dog in the family tree stand. Thus to say where all possible in it to be could. I swear Boudreaux, Ironline etc. on the Ganer Dogs.

FYI I am new.... I think that there are several problems not with the bloodlines some much as owners. We are in an age now where striking your own dog can put you in jail. These days pets are no longer used for what they were breed for. It also does not help that people do not do there research. I could go on and on about why the Pit is where it is today. I think that breeders need to do better screening of potential as well as putting there dogs out more positive press.

Hummm, I dunno what happened. I have an American Pit Bull and his Bloodline is Razors Edge x Gotti and I get more criticism with his looks and what have you, more than you can imagine. He's a great dog, we love him. But, all the APBT people on other forums tell me he's not a real Pit Bull. I'll start another thread and show pictures.

None of the seperate factions get along. The game dog fanciers look down upon the bench show faction and Vice Versa. The boards with game dog fanciers will talk trash about any dog with Staff blood up close.  The Bench Show crowd will look down upon any dog that doesn't have the conformation they feel is correct.

I try to avoid politics. I love my dogs and the work I do with them requires them to be lean and strong. Not over 80lbs. But they still look good.

Very smart Angela.  Instead of sticking together all the factions are at each others throats.  Its best to just stay out of the politics.  Unless someone feeds and cleans someone's dogs, they don't have the right to say anything.
