I'm new to the whole pedigree thing, so please forgive my ignorance. There are several dogs in my pedigrees that have the letters "CS" at the end of their names, and a few others that have "DVORA" as part of their names. Are these initials for something?.....kennel names?......any information would be SOOOOO appriciated.
Thank you.....Rhonda

CS just means Czech, I believe originally C-zecho-S-lovakian, but commonly abreviated CZ in other instances since becoming a republic, but not pedigrees since the breakup of the communist regime. CKSP or CsHPK are Czech pedigree registries. SK is Slovak, SHPK, SKSP, or SUCHNO are Slovak registries. I believe CS was used basically to differentiate indigenous bloodlines in the government runned Czech breeding program from those that were imported from the former DDR (east Germany) or elsewhere. SP/PS would denote that the dog was of the z Pohranicnej staze, or border patrol.
Dvora just means "hall" or "court", in a similar way that "Haus" is used in German kennel names.
If you're intrested in the basic "short version" of Czech German Shepherd Dog History & History of Z Pohranicni Straze kennel
