Description
M1 American Bulldogs
M1AB is a small family owned “Johnson type” American Bulldog kennel, located in Homestead, Florida. The use of the term “small family owned,” means we are not a large scale operation, our animals are socialized family pets, and litters we may produce are planned and done with a vision. That vision is to preserve the breed characteristics as per NKC standard. Our goal is to combine the individual characteristics of our stock, and to produce a consistent bully type American Bulldog.
We have collected a foundation stock we believe combined, will represent the breed not only per the standard, but will earn our kennel recognition as true preservationists of the breed. Those characteristics we strive for are; drive, temperament, and structure. Drive to us is measured by the willingness to work until the job is done, and the owner is pleased. Temperament is determined by loyalty exhibited, and level headedness. Structure will be a constant, measured and judged in NKC sanctioned confirmation events.
The American Bulldog is a large and powerful working dog. The scope of work this breed is intended for ranges from farm utility dog, hog catch dog, to home protector. A well tempered and properly trained American Bulldog can also make for an excellent family companion. In order for a working dog to fulfill expectations, it must have the physical size, strength, and endurance for the task. NKC standard allows for variations, so that a kennel may breed towards its individual goals. What we strive for here at M1AB is not a specific size or look, but for a physically sound dog that can do what is intended of it. Through careful selection, we intend to evaluate and only breed and preserve dogs which meet those requirements. We will place or sell dogs “as pets” accordingly.
To achieve a goal like ours will take time, patients, commitment, and dedication. Our journey began in 2007, and has taken us to our present state. Our first litter was produced in January 2009, and is currently being evaluated. We hope to produce our second and third American Bulldog litters early and mid 2010. Keep a watchful eye out for great things to come from M1AB!
