I wish you all the luck Wildthing. get him on an IV and keep him on one. you should see what animal hospital in your area offers 24 hour care because that sounds like what he is going to need. You are also going to have to find out what this is and find out what you need to do to sanitize your garage, kennel, house. You could be tracking it all over your home with your shoes. if it is Parvo that is not good and it is very hard to get rid of. Please talk to vet and find 1 what it is and 2 how to get rid of it from your kennels or you can have problems in the future Respectfully Michael

I had a pup imported last year at 12 weeks old who showed up in the exact same condition. The pup's shipping crate was clean, but the minute it came out it had the same type diarrhea you describe. Samples showed every kind of worm you can imagine, plus Giardia. Meds were given by my vet the day after arrival and the pup was fine very quickly. The stools took a while to firm up due to irritation of the intestines, change of food, etc., but the pup was acting normal and eating well within a day of treatment. I hope your vet can solve this for you and that your pup recovers quickly! Other dogs on the property, especially young or very old dogs should probably be treated as well. Many parasites, including Giardia, coccidia and many worms have a very stable and resistant form that can be tough to clean from the environment. It's important to keep the pup away from any area he soiled unless it can be thoroughly disinfected or reinfestation is likely. Will be hoping for the best possible outcome for you and your pup. What a shame, I hope the little puppy does well.

I don't know if I believe what I am reading. You say you have imported so many dogs, but now you have a sick pup and you put health questions to an email board? Don't you have a veterinarian???

Hello wildthing, Sorry to hear about your problems. As a number of people have suggested it is likely to be viral or protozoal... if it is parvo (the stench is unique and as was mentioned earlier is one you will never forget). I am sure the stool samples will have been analysed by the vets and you have an idea of the causative organism. It is worthwhile making sure there are plenty of IV fuids.... but watch out for fluid overload as young pups are prone to heart failure. There are supplements that can really help.... I am not sure what brand names they will be sold under in your country but ideally it should contain the following: Main: Maitake and Shiitake Mushrooms—promote T-Cell (immune system) function and other healing properties others: Cordyceps,Inositol Hexaphosphate,Beta Glucans,Beta Sitosterol, Olive Leaf Extract It works wonders in young babies and would be quite effective in pups as well. Hope that helps. All the best... hope your pups get well soon. Yash

In your last message you only mention praying for the male puppy, I do hope he gets better soon. But you did not mention the female pup you said was lying in your garage. Where is she, at the vets I presume, I do hope she is better also. Hope you find out what it is and they become healthy.
