I just received the news that the fabulous Hobby G. was slowing down lately, per his care givers in Sweden where he lived for the past 6 years. He was so young in his mind that he kept trying till the end. His owner from Germany traveled fast when he heard and visited him one last time to say goodbye to his dear friend and one of the greatest producers of German Shepherd dogs. He'll go down into history as that, no doubt. http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/search.html?main=db&string_in=HOBBY+VOM+GLETSCHERTOPF&index_in=All&results_in=10

If anyone out there has seen Hobby in real life and met him, i'm sure it would be fun to post your stories about him here.

I saw Hobby several years ago at the BSZS. I was so impressed at what a "strongly-masculined" male dog he was! I remember placing a phone call home to the USA and telling my husband how "small" URSUS was in comparison.....of course Ursus was in Hobby's progeny group and was young at the time. Hobby was trully a great genetic imprint in the German Shepherd bloodlines!

Hi There, if this is true....... One of the best ones has left us behind ..... But., only to make us aware to keep a good memory, and to strive for the better!!! I had the honor to meet the breeder of Hobby, and i have to admitt that i met a totalaty normal guy !!! He sure was aware of what Hobby achieved, and was proud of it, but hewas sure " was down to earth "! !!! My honest respect
