Maybe some of you breeders with more experience than I can help me out. I recall talking to a friend a while back about a for of bone disorder, or dysplasia that affects the front legs. more importantly, it causes the front feet to go severely east/west. causing the dog to limp. and it gradually gets worse till the dog can no longer walk. If this makes any sense, is there such a condition, and if so what is the name and does anyone have any idea the genetic bases for it? Jennifer

Possibly this is UAP, also sometimes called elbow dysplasia. Un-united aconeal process can occur and lead to lameness in the front. As I understand it is usually bilateral.

this is in the hock, looks almost like the dog had a broken leg in the past. but I am sure he didn't. The leg is straight till you get to the hock or ankle, then it goes off at a weird angle

Uber land, do you mean the pastern??? No hock joint in the front leg... Could it be similar to what the other thread talked about... weak pasterns, down on the pasterns... there is a medical term for it... carpal something or other.. this wekaness could also cause the east/west and so could elbow problems
