Thanks for PDB warning #728 of how someone got screwed sending money to people they have never met for dogs they have never seen. It's almost amusing at this point.

One would think with all the information on this forum that there would be red flags popping up all over your computer screen. Along with the red flags there are many posts about reputable breeders.

Can you do us a favor and answer one question? Please?

Just what did these people say to you that motivated you to run down to the bank, transfer your hard earned money overseas to someone you have never met or had dealings with,,,,,for a dog you have only seen in a picture? A dog you don't even know if the parents are who they say they are. A dog that may or may not even have the titles they claim it has. A dog that may not even be the dog you sent the money to buy.

Just what made you go do this? Is your situation their fault or your fault?

You're so right, Dog1...

Maybe an anonymous group should get together and should start placing ads for well-bred dogs that she doesn't have, and when these fools send their money, the group could have Steph in Montana (Krazyk9?...can't remember her user name) send them a nice dog from her group of rescues...at least they'd be getting a nice dog for their money instead of absolutely nothing, and a nice dog would get a home, and the money could be donated to rescue!

LOLZ @ Hexe.

I plan to purchase a dog or two in the next few years, but I will definitely be flying or driving to go pick the dog up in person for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that if I pay for the dog after inspecting it in person and it leaves in my physical custody, I at least have an 80% chance of getting what I paid for.

For dog1,
it wasn't the first time  what I bought in another country .(Mexico,Sueden,Croatia, Rèp.Tchèque)
And I always sent the money before having the dog it is logical. And all serious breeders do that!
nothing obliges the buyer to pay  after received the dog!

For Vom Brunhaus
I do not judge the country in which I buy.....

I have just placement this message for that the people know .

I am not sure how you people think. What would you expect to recieve the Dog after paying just a deposit, and sending the Balance after ypy have the Dog at your side. Or Pay fully for the Dog first
We know there are Scammers out there all over the World but not all are such. Unless the OP was prepared to travel and pick his dog up and pay the money then i do not know what else could be done. However answers to my above questions would be interesting

I imagine people think they should get what they pay for. Maybe that's just me. I may be different.

Is it really that difficult not to get screwed? What can someone do to prevent it?

How about doing a search on this website for recommendations. I'm sure if you checked there are about as many good referrals as there are rip off stories. That may be a good place to start.

I'm still waiting to hear what the seller said to get the buyer to send money for a dog.

Well you Guys can you tell me how you would go about thiis scenario. I am a breeder over here in Belgium and i have 3 pups for sale. Some of you are interested in purchasing a Pup so how would you go about it and what would you expect from me. and how and when would you pay for the Pup, This is not a catch post i would just like to know how you would do business over here remember i am a complete stranger to you even though you know a bit about me from on here but that is not applicable, You have never been in contact with me before

steve1, if I were interested in buying a pup from you (in your scenario) and knew nothing about you, I'd do a LOT of checking around before I even contacted you--sniff about to see if there were complaints about you not following through or living up to your end of things, touching base with people I do know to see what they knew about you.  In this day and age, it doesn't take much to do some web searching and see how many times a breeder's name comes up with a complaint attached to it.  Only after I'd been able to assure myself that you hadn't a reputation for screwing people over would I make contact with you...and then I'd probably try and work out a way for someone I knew and trusted to take a look at the pup or dog I was interested in, before I sent any money.
