Michelle... do you mean show the dogs in AKC conformation??? That is a very time comsuming, expensive adventure... we decided years ago that we would get a rating on each dog and then concentrate our resources on the performance events. Believe me, very few people give a dog that looks like ours in an AKC show a 2nd look... he is not extreme enough, his ears stand up like they have rods in them, his hocks and pasterns are not flat on the ground and by God, he looks like he has a brain in his head!! Oops, did I say that out loud?? My bad!! GSDNewbie..... I hear ya and agree... my big problem is with the negativity associated with your back yard vs being a "big" breeder - much like what you described....

Yes I do mean showing in AKC..I KNOW there are North American lines that look pretty much like the European lines..and yes it's expensive..everything about the dogs is..LOL But by exposing these dogs, whether it's a win or not, I think people note the difference, especially those that are interested in breeding to standard, either one is pretty much the same just somehow differently understood. I think THIS exposure would get THESE dogs into the gene pool which I think the lines need to "stabalize":) Just my views, am sure some don't agree. Hey I send MY people to AKC/CKC shows too...knowing well they won't do well....but exposure is important. People need to see also the differences. Eventually the judges will not be "shy" to place these dogs where they belong! Michele

Me again...just to prove this can happen, one of my clients in Nebraska put a V Presco vom Haus Dexel (Timo son) and my V Occa vom Kirschental daughter (my breeding-have also kept one back for ME) into an AKC show...I did warn her to not be disappointed...well...she placed second in spite of the fact that she stood out like a sore thumb:):):) Let's see how she does at the Colorado USA show.:):):) Michele
