ALMOST ALL THE DOGS I'VE SEEN OR TROLL, TIMMY,  MINK, FERO(west)  AND A TOUCH ORRY(holland) going back to VERWIN BLITSAERD WHICH ALL TO ME ARE GOOD DOGS, BUT ITS THE SAME PEDIGREE IN MOST THE DOGS OUT RIGHT NOW ! DON'T OVERLOAD ON THE SAME STUFF. LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK?

1.Sexy dogs bring more money.
2.Lazy breeders hate to do research. If everybody likes it it must be good.Right?
3. WRONG! There is a big problem if the sexy dog starts produce missing teeth, bad hips, or elbows.Than where do we go if "every" dog has this, now disgraced dog, on the pedigree. That often leads to linebreeding on the problem too. This has been a problem as long as dogs are bred.
4. Not all intentions are wrong though. Many people like great ability of great dog so they breed to it. BUT! Do not forget the  genotype.

Well, it helps to at least try and understand what you're producing. You can get to Troll for instance , through a lot of different dogs. Some combinations of Orry and fero work and some don't , just like any other combo!

Oh ,...one more thing: it diminishes genetic pool. If everybody would do it, then we would not have any dogs soon to breed to. Is that what you are talking about Wetzel?

A common mistake, IMO, is the number of people buying a pedigree....without a decent dog to go with it.  I look at the dog first, then the pedigree.  Don't get me wrong, for I love a great pedigree....but it is useless without a dog who can work.  I still do "old school" schutzhund.....my kind of dog...tough...just train within the rules.

You are sooooooooooo right about dogs meshing properly in pedigrees.  Some blend well, some fall apart.  Some dogs seem to produce better coming thru the dam side.  It is all very interesting.

I have a very good friend who has just seen the result of buying a pedigree.  One dog with bad hips.....all but one dog produced from the sire and dam have bad hips...so the breeder is breeding the one bitch who passed.  He bought another dog from someone else out of a so called "top producing dog".  She is a pet, at best.

I am picky, picky, picky!!  It doesn't cost any more to feed a good dog, than a bad dog.  Feeding a dog is too expensive to waste money.

I THINK THERE SHOULD BE ONE BREED OF GSD NOT TWO OR THREE ( SHOW, WORK,PET) A TOTAL DOG WITH MORE OPTIONS IN DIRECTION IN BREEDING. I ALSO THINK BREEDERS SHOULD TAKE THE TIME TO STUDY THIER OWN DOGS PEDIGREE TO GET A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF WHY TWO DOGS WERE BREED TOGETHER SO WE AS GSD LOVERS AND BREEDERS CAN HELP THE BREED INSTEAD OF HURTING IT.  THANKS    RICK WETZLER

The first one is kinda Koos Hassingesq...

I own all the above mentioned dogs(except for Boy Von Zorra), and have had them for most of the lifes(fronka I got at a year old) I,m not saying I am going to do these breedings but if I did it would be to create a very specific genetic line thats why they call it Line breeding I love all the things about the afor mentioned dogs in drives and ability,s they won,t be breed till they are titled Ofa,d and show good persistent qualities as they mature. so your telling me you won,t be contacting me if I whelp one of these litters...thats okay there are lots of dogs to choise from out there. Thats why we are all different.
