We just bought a gsd puppy for my kids for Christmas. We had to put our 1st dog down this spring due to cancer. She was 13 yrs old lab mutt.  I was trying to find out if she will be more of a German type shepherd or American type. The sire name is Ruger vom haus Reiche and the dame name is Gabriella vom haus Khun. I tried looking at a couple of sites but couldn't find any information. It's more out of curiosity than anything. I'm not going to be breeding her. She will be 1/2 time work sidekick and 1/2 family/house dog. I take care of a 160 acre property that she will be able to run all day and with 3 boys they will keep her busy all night. If I could also get some recomendations on good training books that maybe a little more basic or kid friendly it would be appreciated.  I will post pics of her once I figure out how to.  Thanks for the help.

I don't understand why the "breeder" did not provide you with all of this information and more, during the screening/selection process...

Neither parent is the Pedigree Database here, though other dogs from these two kennels are. Both kennels breed German show line dogs.

As far as posting pictures here, you can no longer post them directly. You have to post them on another site/dropbox, then copy the link and paste it into your post. Click on the symbol in the text editor that looks like a picture of mountains, then paste the URL into the box that pops up.

Ruger vom Haus Reiche, AKC reg# DN44885607, dob JAN-14-2016

Gabrielle vom Haus Kuhn [note correct spelling] AKC reg# DN35695602, dob DEC-08-2012

One of the Pedigrees Admins here might be able to find out the breeding behind your pup's parents using the AKC registration numbers. Checked the OFA database for both, neither of them are listed as far as hip & elbow certifications go; that can mean they were never certified, they didn't pass certification, or they were certified using a different organization such as PennHIP or the SV.

She is a sturdily-built girl, very pretty head on her, too. May she have a long, happy and healthy life with you and your family, Borg9!

Awwwwwwwwww... what a cutie ;)

Looks like she's long, so probably going to do some vertical growing shortly (All the GSD puppies I ever had get longer and then taller as their growing pattern :)

I've found the Lucky Dog TV show to have easy-to-learn, good training techniques, and it's good for kids. Here, it's on a couple of times on Saturday mornings (better than the new-fangled cartoons). They also have videos on YouTube

Google Search Results for Lucky Dog Videos

Have fun!

Female from the same kennel as the sire: http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=705003-amara-vom-haus-reiche

Haus Kuhn has been a very busy breeding kennel and has 18 pages of entries on the PDB: http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/search.html?s=Haus+Kuhn

I checked out the letter 'G' - dogs from the same litter will all have names starting with the same letter of the alphabet- but 'G' listings for this kennel are all much too old to have anything to do with your pup's dam!
