,,,, it wouldn’t be that big of a deal except I mixed $60 in other ingredients into the ground turkey !!



I also just picked up my new order of ground chicken quarters today! So I wont be without if I just throw away the turkey! Just hate to throw money away! This was the very reason I switched from kibble ! Nothing is safe 🤨

But the idea of throwing away the $60 ground turkey mixture is just frustrating! I will research how exactly salmonella affects dogs, if it even does I really don’t know.

I’m presetly sitting in the barber shop with my son, but will research this later!

That’s why it is best never to use pre-ground pre-packaged meat, like we discussed in the last thread. It’s ok to have your butcher do it, but these huge conglomerates that produce so much in bulk are too risky. Turkey is just all around bad in ground form.

The salmonella is probably not going to effect your dog as their stomach acid content is so high...and you or your family did not get it eventhough you produced the batch from handling the ground turkey....but still, I might just toss it to be safe.

Mass produced food, especially meat, is turning into a nightmare.

91 thousand pounds recall from Jennie-O Turkey alone. Think of those numbers in the sense that these were all living creatures at one time.

They recall out of fear of being sued. You bet the dog food companies are jumping on this and trolling it by unknowns in forums to create more fear to keep people feeding ONLY kibble... Another billion dollar industry. JMO


 

That's what I said, ground turkey is not even fit for human consumption!

The problem with feeding the contaminated meat, is risk of cross contamination. You handle his food dish after he eats, he touches you with his mouth after eating.....it's not a good scenario.

I heard this morning there's recall on whole turkeys ...I don't eat turkey in any form.
The food in this country is not the same as it was a couple decades ago.
Country of origin is not even on the label most of the time.

Stupid German question: What's the meaning of "ground" in this context? 😣

I bought that (disgusting) 😟ground turkey and prepared it before it was discussed on the last thread, so I guess this is a “live and learn”... lesson. If I ever see turkey again it will be too soon! We are having beef for Thanksgiving 😉! 

I threw it all away because frankly it just grossed me out and I didn’t want all that worry over few dollars ,,,,

And did I mention.....this raw feeding is freaking exhausting!! 🤪
Time consuming and at this point more expensive then feeding the best kibble money buys! And I spend a good portion of time cleaning with concern of those little raw bacteria’s floating around!!

Anyway, I’m still not sure what I think 🤔 of this whole endevour ,,,,

Ruger, your last post covers all the reasons I quit feeding raw...not to mention; trying to keep weight on my dogs that I was training from sch titles was exasperating to say he least. Ended feeding a huge bowl full twice a day and then on mornings when I fed them, I could not train because their gut was full.

Victor Nutra Pro.....excellent results. Remember momma dog with 3 week old puppies? Fat and shinny coat...pups are fat and shine like new pennies:-)

And none of my dogs have tarter build up on their teeth. They all have a nyla bone and every one chews after they eat. No bones to worry about.

Ruger... feed a good quality kibble and give a few bits of raw bone in chicken a couple times week, with a scoop of yogurt or cottage cheese every now and then. Open up a can of sardines or other fish to keep it interesting and sit back and enjoy your dog.
