can they be registerd as an akc GSD, i was wondering because my male gsd, has a lot of the same charecteristics. He is nearly weighs about 97lbs, and has some what of a long coat, and it is real thick boned and tall, he is really intellegent, im not a trainer, but you couldnt tell with the dog, he acts like he has been in training his whole life, he know english and does almost everything i tell him to do. But he doesnt have alot of drive, meaning he is really laid back, he never gets real excited like my other gsd. He is Akc registerd, just wondering if he might be a shiloh. His picture is up, he is four years old
Ok you guys, i dont see where yall think that i agree with hybrid dogs, i my self think, the labradoodles, and maltypoo's and what ever else they have going on, is stupid. I , i have a 5 year old and two 2 year old gsd, and am just now starting to relize after owning them their whole lives, that although they are wonderful pets, I got shanked on what I was really looking for. Yes i did read the forum, and that was the first i had ever heard of a shilo shepherd, i read what i could find on google about them, and started thinking that mabe my shepherd was one of these things and asked yall, the so called experts what yall thought about my shepherd, being a shiloh. If ya'll so called experts cared about the gsd breed so much when you see people ask questions, you should just answer them rather than attack them with stupid smart ass comments. There are no stupid questions, every one is an idiot about something, even you reading this, you can only change the fact that your an idiot, by taking interest, asking questions, and learning about it. For shiloh dogs, not striking your interest, alot of people have been reading my post, and leaving stupid comments. You tell me who is who is the idiot. If you dont want to read about shiloh's dont read my post, I put shiloh dog in the topic, i didnt trick you into reading this. You people are not helpful! yall are just bored and insecure and like bust your nuts by attacking people . Get a life!

The AKC does still have some Shiloh dogs in its registry, I think, because other people bought Barber's dogs in good faith and bred from them. It isn't something I'd go looking for in the next dog, because you don't have a clue what might be in there, and the trend seems to be fading out as word spreads about the iffiness.
Yep, I'm here continuing to spread the word. I have a Shiloh-descent shepherd-thing myself, a rescue, and she's a perfectly decent animal if you don't mind the tail-chasing and neurotic moments. And the weird coat. And the odd opinions at random moments. It's hard to place what about her isn't shepherdy, but she isn't quite. And she came with copies of her parents' apparently-AKC papers. Apparently Tina was kicked out (she was also awarding AKC titles without the certifications or the performance) but not all the associated bloodlines.

A good thorough set of searches leads me to the conclusion that the people who care about the Shiloh Shepherd, its multiple registries, and its intriguing pedigrees are the Shiloh people and not much of anyone else -- certainly not GSD people unless their lines have been shuffled into a Shiloh pedigree -- so I'll suggest we let this thread die. It's impossible to unearth unbiased information, and the bias is all pro-Barber (in that interesting way that seems to feel the world is against it, when in fact the world appears to be yawning hugely and going about its business). I would be interested to know, though, if, when the GSD was first set as a breed, there were that many splinter lines that early on and for similar reasons. Obviously you'd need non-founder sources for that, too.
Of course, if someone actually has access to the AKC actual-paper archives and wants to go digging, I'd be happy to hear the results. I don't live anywhere near them and have no travel money. As official documents, they'd be the least-biased source of information available short of DNA-screening the dogs from before the official split -- the ones registered as pure GSD. If they're mixes, then there's not much support for Tina Barber's general honesty from that point on. If they are pure GSD, then there's a better case for her deliberate departure, aside from above-mentioned story of obedience trials. Anyone have any early-Shiloh cheek swabs in their freezer? My own supposed-Shiloh-descent has too many generations of question mark for her to be any use in the project.
If you do reply, remember that "U suk go hom" is not a rebuttal in the German philosophical tradition.
