brynjulf, it may surprise you but I actually can understand some of your sentiments. I don't know anything about the situation in Canada but I'd agree that until people satisfy some sort of residency requirement - a certain number of years as residents and paying into the system - they should not be allowed to enjoy unlimited social benefits.

Frankly, other than in the West, most countries do not allow immigrants to enjoy various social benefits.

My issue with SM and her ilk, is that she is either a racist or her selection of news articles are always slanted to cast minorities in a bad light. Present her with facts and she will do the disappearing act or start another thread. Ask her what she would do with the 12-20 million illegals in the US and she lists a litany of things to do which does not answer the question - most likely just copied from some website.

But back to your point - no one likes any group milking the system no matter where they are from.

If the 12 to 20 million illegal aliens living here found it inhospitable, a vast majority would self migrate away. the rest can be picked up deported, and the number of new ones would also dwindle.

By taking away their "benefits", our country would not be as big a draw..... hud housing, free medical, foodstamps, free education, instant citizenship, etc.......

SM, What about the Native Americans? Have you forgot about them? Who died and made this your country? I would seriously like to know who you think owns this country? Only the white people who work for oil companies? Without illegal immigrants this country would have never been the country it is now. How did your family get here? Most of my family were born and raised in native American. What about you SM? What country did your relatives emigrate from? Did they have there green cards? This country was founded on immigrants escaping poverty and persecution in their native countries. I do not understand people who complain non-stop about immigration, but these same people/families came to this great country and KILLED most of its native peoples. Part of my family came to this country poor and persecuted, thank god someone took them in and helped them to survive their first years here. I can guarantee that my family did not receive "hud housing, free medical, foodstamps, free education, instant citizenship, etc" what they did receive was freedom and the chance to do better. SM and like minded people should be ashamed at their stances on immigration. I for one will never begrudge a person wanting a better life and the freedoms that all humans crave and desire.

These Crime statistics are mind boggling. You need to actually read these SP.

In the population study of a sample of 55,322 illegal aliens, researchers found that they were arrested at least a total of 459,614 times, averaging about 8 arrests per illegal alien. Nearly all had more than 1 arrest. Thirty-eight percent (about 21,000) had between 2 and 5 arrests, 32 percent (about 18,000) had between 6 and 10 arrests, and 26 percent (about 15,000) had 11 or more arrests. Most of the arrests occurred after 1990.

They were arrested for a total of about 700,000 criminal offenses, averaging about 13 offenses per illegal alien. One arrest incident may include multiple offenses, a fact that explains why there are nearly one and half times more offenses than arrests. Almost all of these illegal aliens were arrested for more than 1 offense. Slightly more than half of the 55,322 illegal aliens had between 2 and 10 offenses.

About 45 percent of all offenses were drug or immigration offenses. About 15 percent were property-related offenses such as burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft, and property damage. About 12 percent were for violent offenses such as murder, robbery, assault, and sex-related crimes.

The balance was for such offenses as traffic violations, including driving under the influence; fraud — including forgery and counterfeiting; weapons violations; and obstruction of justice.

Eighty percent of all arrests occurred in three states — California, Texas, and Arizona. Specifically, about 58 percent of all arrests occurred in California, 14 percent in Texas, and 8 percent in Arizona.

What about the crimes of almost slaughtering a whole culture? What about the genocide in those early founders? Seems to me they had no room to talk about FREEDOM and drafting a constitution and bill of rights.

The immigrants came to this country for freedom and liberty, but they proceeded to kill the natives and take away their freedoms, then they bring in slaves because they were lazy and needed help making money. After, many years of struggles these same freedom fighters fought a war against each other over whether or not a black man could be free? Imagine the hypocrisy in it.

How long has it been since the freedom fighters allowed women to vote?

I agree, but there is a legal and an illegal way of entering this country.

The woman pictured below waited years to obtain a "permanent visa", she still is a Canadian citizen. That woman is my wife.

SP, statistics don't mean anything to a person like you because all you want to do is say something that tugs on a few heart strings.
