I went to Ecuador with a female dog to mate her with Arre. The dog didn't even try and that happened to others that had gone to Ecuador also from different countries. I heard lots of people were complaining. The owner kept on making excuses about it but not seeing him in Germany this year proved something is wrong with him. About the training, they have pretty decent trainers and the space to do a great job as this year they competed with Luther di casa Caputi, very interesting dog. I don't know if you have seen this dog in person (Arre) but he's too large and it's really obvious how he's been given stuff through the growing. Maybe too many steroids affected his mating desire.

Not the first time I've heard the suggestion that these big headed, over done, massive males were administered anabolic steroids. And yes, that could have a detrimental effect on their libido. It is just not the correct type for a working dog - Akita like heads with too much stop, round eyes, hanging lips, short legs, thick bodies. Too too much.....IMO the desire for the masculine look has been taken way too far in too many males. The females remain uneffected. Ever wonder why? Soon the bar will need to be lowered even more so the males can achieve an IPO while the females will dominate the protection scene too.

Louis Donald was really unimpressed with this year's lineup, too. Too many big dogs, and no one without connections to the SV elite placed in the top ranks. It's really discouraging your average joe from even thinking of showing.
BTW, my friend owns a Geck di Casa Nobili son. Geck passed away yesterday...age 8! Supposedly a heart attack...

I think a "heart attack" would be a rare killer of an 8 year old dog, any dog actually, unless the dog has some sort of defect or other health issue. Sad news.....he should have had at least 3 more good years.
