Something to think about---- Often you hear or read about the AKC and its role in "discouraging the wholesale breeding of dogs". All purebred dogs sold in pet stores come with AKC papers. A "hobby" breeder has 1, maybe 2, litters per year. A "serious" breeder has 3, maybe 4 or 5 litters per year. These breeders have perhaps 1 or 2 DNA males. A commercial breeder may have say, 300 to 800 litters per year, 50 to 80 DNA males. THINK!!!! Who is the AKC's best customer? "Bottom line" was mentioned was it not? Why do so many folks continue to believe that the AKC actually "frowns" on commercial breeders. A commercial breeder is NOT neccesarily synanomous with cruel or inhumane treatment of animals. Morgan

The bill says if you breed 25 or more puppies per year OR 6 or more litters. IMO that eliminates most hobby breeders.
