blitzen, would be interesting to see what lines in the Am lines are prone to bloat, does your friend have any statistics that she/he would be willing to share?

CainGSD, my friend had white GSD's. Her B&T's including an Am/German bitch did not die from bloat. All the white dogs did at a very old age. One of her whites was bred to the Am/German bitch and this dog was put to sleep at 12years when he bloated. The dogs got it all eventually but were considered already to be old for the breed. Sunny

"One of her whites was bred to the Am/German bitch and this dog was put to sleep at 12years when he bloated." Sorry, correction: One of her whites was bred to the Am/German bitch and one of the offspring from this breeding was put to sleep at 12 years when he bloated. Sunny

CainGSD, All the available information can be found on this website: www.mzjf.info/hgate. The site is easy to navigate and there is an analysis of all the information listed there. Unfortunately, more than a few breeders intimidated their owners into removing the information regarding the health issues and causes of death and and I think all of the pedigrees are gone too. There were threats of lawsuits, the same old. However, there is still a lot of good information there including sire and dam on most, vaccination records, diet information, etc.. Most are Amlines, but there are some German bred dogs listed there too. BTW, anyone interested can submit the information and become part of the analysis of causes of death in the GSD and health histories.

Blitzen, I wondered if that was the site you were referring to. I have visited it before. Thanks
