I have never traced my males pedigree all the way back. The breeder I bought him from told me about how as a young man he uses to smuggle dogs from East Germany into Czech Republic for the purpose of breeding.
I’d assume that this is one way blank or unknown spots could show up on a pedigree.
It must have been illegal to do this, or he wouldn’t have called it “smuggling”. If this group of people were to document their breeding practices, they would in a sense be generating evidence to prove their own guilt of a crime.
Now I am curious. I’m going to give it a look and see how many blanks there is.
