what i dont understand is why is this thread so far off topic.

it appears someone cant even stay on topic and then when called out does not even know what the topic is.

people would not have to defend anything if certain people would stay on topic.

it is about a kennel in texas it only became a pissing match when someone thought there lines were being attacked.

this coming from supposed intelligent people.

Maggie :   it is posted at the bottom of page 1 under your name /    It doesn't say anything about  Kimmelot...

If it was a quote by Kimmelot...you should have said   quoted from Kimmelot...but you made no such ..and you made no statement about why you posted it...no quote marks around it ...so  I assummed you make it..it is in your post box...

Sorry but next Time   make a quote out of it and state why you copied it..

I STILL DISAGREE WITH WHOEVER MADE THE STATEMENT THAT YOU POSTED ON THE BOTTOM OF PAGE ONE UNDER YOUR NAME.

duh     I  HAD TO SEARCH FOR IT  BUT I FOUND IT...

My point being.....why did you just post it....I read the last post on page one  went to page 2  , 3  ,  4 , 5,,6,  7 and by the time I wrote it was on page 9.....

I read it three times before I said i disagree.. it said  Maggie Mae Posted:

but you failed to say      "I don't agree "  I thinks this is my opinion which is exactly why , you copied it.  If you don't agree with it...then why did you post  it???

Do I make myself clear...whether Kimmelot made the statement first , doesn't matter , I read it from your post and you made no disapproval so that told me you agreed with it...

if you do not agree   why did you post it???  I disagree with that statement no matter who made it first or last.

The dogs Heidelberg sells definitely do not look like good quality German Shepherd dogs...Not at all.

I do not like American bred show GSD.  I have an American bred GSD, Annie Oakley, that is my heart and soul...She is blind and I pray that will be the extent of her suffering.  She is an angel in fur and I love her dearly.

That said, when I am ready to purchase a dog to do something more with, it will be German bred, and most likely from workinglines.  I like the black and tan, and the sables, bicolors, and solid blacks.  They are all equally beautiful, as long as they are good representative of their breed, and not walking on their hocks, are not sway backed, not lame, not snipey, and structured according to the standard taken LITERALLY, and not interpreted to fit the current fad.

Am I a breeder?  No.  Am I a show handler?  No.  What am I?  At this time, a pet owner. Did I educate myself on the breed before I bought?  No. My first GSD was a birthday gift, a four month old pup that had never been separated from his mother, and had issues with his temperament from the beginning.  Even so, I put obedience on him, basic on and off lead.  I was happy with him, but I began to research the breed, and what I found was astonishing.  I learned that the breed originated in Germany in the 1890's, under the hand of a great visionary named Max von Stephanitz.  I learned that he had created a working dog, and that we found about it after the first world war.  A dog named Rin Tin Tin brought the breed to the attention of the American people. I have, and have read, the book by Winifred Strickland, and know about the history of the breed and how it has changed over the decades both here and abroad.

I learned that here in America, too many view dogs as simply toys, as accessories, like clothes or shoes.  And style is about extremes, with little to no concern placed on the structure or health of the animals produced, so long as they have this certain look and that certain gait.  It's about the fad, about politics, about money.

I learned that what I want in a GSD is a dog that is sound of structure, beautiful, strong, stable of temperament, able to do whatever I ask of him, able to be a friend, indeed, a part of the family and a loving companion.

I learned that the GSD I want is not to be found in this country, from lines that have been bred here for decades.  He is from Germany, or Czech Republic, perhaps bred here, but his recent ancestors will not have been bred here.

If you find the American show dogs to be your liking, by all means, enjoy them.  I want more.

Crys
