Very nice dog, I would not worry about some remarks. She is a fine dog..

Good luck and show us the progress. I like to see when they get further in trainig; i like the progress.

Thank you aeverybody for your input..

I have a question.

Isn't this dog working in prey and defense once it has the sleeve ? To me the dogs looks like he would still bite the helper once the sleeve is in his mouth. I did see the helper pet the dog from the front, but what if he would have went around the dog to his rear ? If he then would have dropped the sleeve and bit the helper, wouldn't that be defense ? And if he didn't, wouldn't that be just prey drive training ?

I dunno, I'm just wondering. Interesting video. Thanks for posting.

BabyEagle I probably should have asked the person filming to put Randy in also.  Then you would have seen that when Strut gave him the defense reaction he wanted he picked up the sleeve which then switched her to prey as she knows the sleeve is the fun.  NO she would not have bitten him if he had come around behind her after she had the sleeve in her mouth.  She WOULD have bitten him if he had come close enough while he was hassling her without the sleeve because he had her in defense then.  We are not training her to bite the man for real though, just making her bark and grip even stronger and tapping the defense drive does this.  She is still  being trained to be a strong sport dog,  Barb

GSDPack, Strut knows all the 3 obedience and the tracking also.  She runs the blinds and all we have to do are the transports and we are ready.  Those will be easy for her as she is very compliant and caps naturally.  If all goes well she will be a SchH3 this year and I will post her progress along the way.  I cannot wait for this winter to be over so we can get out there and put it all together again!  There certainly are disadvantages to living in northern IN!!!!!  Barb

So if the helper wouldn't have picked up the sleeve once the dog gave the right reaction ... would that still be defense or would that be fight ?

Edit: I dunno I just wondered about fight drive because I hear it alot.

If he had come in close with her all pissed off what do you think would have happened?  But in picking up the sleeve he is switching her to prey or the toy in it's most pleasing form to these hard wired dogs :-)

I know silly, but would that have been fight or defense on a table like that ?
