Ruger, may I ask you a serious question?  How do you differentiate between your god and the devil, based solely on their characteristics?

Yes Gouda, if you are proposing to answer the question, you need to say a lot more.  I'm not asking you what Jesus did, you either didn't understand the question or you have no answer.

And ... what do we humans get out of being told by god to do such things ?  Apart from being made 'worse' than we would be anyway ?~~ God is under no obligation to appeal to our fragile human sensibilities. Sometimes killing is necessary. It's violent and it is the result of sin. The fall of Adam and Eve was great and not to be taken lightly. Hence original sin and the reason we all must look to Christ in the New Testiment,,,,Furthermore, we are never "made worse". We are all born with the same depth of depravity as the next,,,By Gods mercy most never rise to the level of Serial killers, pedophiles, etc,,,,** yeah I said that:-)
