Well interesting thread!! Now let see!! Oh I remember my old post!! I will re-post it!! The Bible teaches us that there are 2 types of people in this world, those who profess the truth of God's existence and those who suppress the truth of God's existence. The options of 'seeking' God, or not believing in God are unavailable. The Bible never attempts to prove the existence of God as it declares that the existence of God is so obvious that we are without excuse for not believing in Him. God does not send people to Hell for denying what they do not know, but for sin against the God that they do know.

VK4 complain because God puts thorns on roses, while others praise God for putting roses among thorns. The real attitude of sin in the heart towards God is that of being without God; it is pride, the worship of myself that is the great atheistic fact in human life.

Romans 1 vs. 18 - 21 says:

The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities - his eternal power and divine nature - have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.

The truth?

Mathematics is truth
Physics is truth
Biology is truth
Chemistry is truth...

That said everything I´m able to count is truth, everything else is subjective, dependent on personal experience and society.

I might have misunderstood your meaning Susie, about counting. If you are blind and I am not, when I count the birds in my feeder while you are standing next to me,  you will not trust my count as true? Hypothetically, of course.

Society, does it make a good judge in guiding all us individual counters of physical truth?

i think you left out other kinds of truths. Personal truth, like morals and ethics are not something we can put in a pocket for an example.

Counting meant as measurable, logical, provable, kind of
1+1 = 2 or a²+2ab+b²=(a+b)²
or water you are able to split into
2H2O (water) = 2H2(hydrogen)+O2(oxygen)
no birds involved Wink Smile

" Personal truth, like morals and ethics are not something we can put in a pocket for an example." = subjective

Oh, you mean known Laws of the Universe. Only. Hmm. I don't think it is that simple at all, really.

Subjective truths are real, too. Different, but real. That is why society even exists, if you think about it.

Bee: " Subjective truths are real, too. Different, but real. That is why society even exists, if you think about it."

A "subjective truth" is what the name says - subjective ( not true as soon as viewed from another angle ).
1+1=2 is a truth for everybody.
Society exists because of rules, made by humans, not because of truth. Today in our sciety it´s the law, in former times ( and still in some countries ) it was religion ( world wide ).

Hmm. Doesn't say much for the American Way! Truth, Justice and Freedom for all. Hmm, again.

However, I do see what you see; birds or not! LOL I just accept what I see as a broader picture when defining truth is concerned. You would like to accept absolute truth as the only criteria, I believe. I can accept that something true, can be pragmatic as well.

Might as well never believe a word out of anybody since it can be viewed by another from another angle! We must rely on a witness then, don't we— a third party to accept our perceptions as truth.

No, Bee, I´m able to "believe" whatever I want, and as soon as feelings are involved people tend to believe, not to know better. Wink Smile

Feelings are humanities guide to truth!

What you are speaking of is knowledge, not truth.  Different animals.  Feelings have nothing to do with truth or knowledge.  Truth is true, whether you "believe" it or not.  To profess knowledge of truth, you need justification and justification requires falsifiability.  If a question does not contain falsifiability, the answer can never be regarded as "truth".
