In popular music, a cover version or cover song, or simply cover, is a new performance or recording of a previously recorded, commercially released (or unreleased) song, by someone other than the original artist or composer.

That Madonna remix, shouldn't that be considered a cover, instead? I found her version with her gyrations to Don McClean's classic ballad, to be annoying! And I am a Madonna fan, usually!

lol Yes you are right beetree, that is what I said. The remix is the cowboy/girl theme video.
She (Madonna) is really a dancer by trade, she has sound experts to autotune and polish her pitch. She and Micheal Jackson, both Entertainer/Dancers.
