With the weather here finally in the high 80's - 90's here, typical for this time of year, the water should be warming up soon. :-))) Yippee!

Is it ok if I tear this ball up, Mom?

These are the best pictures ever taken of T!

He has not needed the harness for a couple of days now, except to help him into the car. A simple obedience leash under his abdomen to help over slick floors and work on his balance exercises does fine. His balance and strength still need work, but his determination is strong. He doesn't need the cart now, hopefully won't again in future.

Due to the short amount of time carts are typically needed (usually for sad reasons) I think I'll hang on to this one and loan it out, rent free, to people whose dogs need a nice cart, but who can't afford to buy or rent one.  Its a very sturdy aluminum vehicle, should be good for many years into the future. I could see putting a brass plate on the cart somewhere, with room for the engraved  names of every dog that enjoyed its use. Ditto for the nylon harness eventually, but if I get the little house in the country I am hoping to lease-purchase next month I'll need it to get him up the 6-7 steps to the porch, at least for awhile.

A little landscape TLC and this little 1 bdrm place, built in the 20's on 1.10 acres, would shine like a new penny.

Grand photo's

I bet T will love that new place, that will get him practising his walking, just to check it out! (wouldn't mind it myself LOL). So happy for you.

The staples in T's leg come out today. Then, its off to the boat ramp inlet at the river to check out the water temp, doggy life vest at the ready! I miss my boy when I'm down in Sac all week, but he's adjusted well, happy enough on the enclosed porch with the doors and windows open for the breeze, access to the yards, and the company of the little dogs. In another week I'll be working out of the local office, no 80-90 min. commute each way, (Only 9 miles :-) so I'll be able to work with him every night again.

Looking at another house today, in case the owners of the one above change their mind and decide not to rent it. Its been sitting vacant for 1.5 yrs. I guess they don't need the $... They plan to tear it down and build on the land someday, but the house is really too nice to just leave sit, vandal bait.

Hi Shelley,
I just saw this(haven't been to this site much lately). I'm glad to see that T is recovering so nicely. I hope you are too.

Thanks Dot. Long, bumpy road behind me, and still a long way to go, but things are coming together, slowly but surely. I shall have my life back, good as ever, maybe even better in some ways. Just have to keep plugging away at it, celebrate small successes, remember the lessons learned, and fuggedabout the disappointments.

T fetched his ball from across the back yard on Saturday, brought it to me and stood on all four for 3-5 min at the back door waiting for me open it for him, without losing his balance once. He might as well have won a gold medal in the Olympics in my book. Not all days are as good as that one, some better than others, but he continues to amaze me with his determination.

Good to hear the old boy's continuing to improve, Shelley. Incremental though they may be, each improvement indicates he's still in a healing mode and hasn't yet plateaued. :)  I'm still betting on him showing you a running gait again, and as ugly as it will likely be, it will still be the most breathtaking run you've ever witnessed from him. Looking forward to you reporting that achievement to everyone here!
