Having moderators here IS not a new idea....Oli has tried it before and it didn't work then and it is sub-par at best now.

Locking threads is just wrong, IMO. And the passion has left here along with the people that had things of value to say...

Piece out,

Personally............ I would say moderators have a hard job to do, and possibly not a well liked job. But you volunteered for it, for whatever reasons. And like one stated, you are not being paid.

Human nature is always a voicing of opinions and attitudes and thoughts. Nothing is wrong with that in my eyes. Who deems where the line is drawn is another question.

As fast as one leaves two new ones pop up. Are we interested in "quality" or "quantity"?  Personally I would like a little of both.

I don't envy your jobs, but in all honesty, we don't know what the job entails and when we "trial period" things or "change our ways" then people are leaving (for whatever their reasons are?) but they're leaving faster then the changes and trial periods themselves.

Now I know everyone will not be happy but maybe you could implement something to the effect of a scale? when so many infractions take place then the action, (yours). But not immediate. I don't get the deletion Even without me seeing it beforehand. But if words are causing negativity maybe it was about interpretation, (even by a MOD) and needs to be reiterated or clarified so in fact it would/should stay? Only after a certain "level" on the "scale" then the thread is locked but not deleted, that way all future readers will know what caused the infraction(s) thus leading to the lockout?

What site is it that has the warning boxes?  If you step over the line you lose a lit box(or gain one, can't remember), after five you are banned for however long.

Maybe something like that would work.  We all get a little over zealous once in a while, but for those who are always in the fray, it would punish them, not everyone on the thread - or the thread itself for that matter.

RS,

We think alike.

Mostly...I just skim through the topics now.
We have lost many valuable posters over the past few months....and others only post once in a great while..
ie...Hodie, Silbersee, Slamdunc...just to name a few, whom have either left or rarely post.
One has to only ask why??  They have contributed much  info to this forum....what a shame.

Well....I'll just continue to lurk & skim.....it's just my opinion.

Modulus Rex moderator comment: Vickie, we will bear your thoughts in mind the next time you ask the moderators to intervene on your behalf in one of your apparently endless commercial/shelter disputes.

In all honesty there is not solution.

Since I have been a part of this forum many of the top knowledgeable breeders/trainers/owners have left or fell into the shadows. Many took extended breaks etc...

I went away from this site for quite sometime simply because informative threads Disappeared! You have to look through 50 threads or more to find one thats a legitimate discussion that any knowledge can be pulled from and even then you have many posts to sift through from those whom degrade the thread by their petty uneducated posts.

It seems the direction of this forum has moved from pulling/sharing FREE knowledge, interesting debate, and a resource TO spiteful, political, pet owners, uneducated arguing, bashing and troll land

I was fortunate enough to meet and learn from many of the elite when i 1st joined this forum. To bad most of them are no longer participating here. Thanks to all for discontinuing this site as a valued resource.

As i said earlier threads start off good then as soon as a few words spoken out of turn it is closed down. You are punishing everyone who has done no wrong by closing the whole thread
It is the ones who are causing the thread to be closed down who should be blocked from posting on that particular thread again, not banned just blocked from posting on that subject thread

Well I can certainly understand your frustration, German shepherd dog,  but  I hope he doesn't.  I like it here and I like the personalities, everyone in this dysfunctional internet family.

Lee, there is still lots of good info on here, maybe not the kind you are looking for if you are talking about training, although, you could always start one and make it interesting.

However, for those of us who do not already know everything, there are a lot of good tips put on here daily.

Edit to add:, that is a good idea too  Steve!

Modulus Rex moderator comment: Red Sable, I have just deleted my friend GSD's last post.  As you note he is frustrated at the moment, and it's hard to be rational when you are frustrated.  Yes, even moderators need to be moderated occasionally.  :)
