Do you really know what you're buying when you "buy gold" ?

Interestingly enough, my FC must understand what you are referring to. While I am not going to request gold bars be sent to my home, he has assured me what/who/wherever I bought from, does take possession of the physical stuff. I suppose if the economy collapses entirely, or my FC turns out to be another Bernie Madoff, it will be hard for me to track them down and actually take possession, true. However, that is the whole nature of the stock and commodity markets to begin with. You have to have faith* to go along with your risk.

I am thinking my timing just might have been excellent! LOL

On the flip side, you can also have faith that some things will fail, and make a killing, too. (I have yet to be able to actually tolerate reading, let alone understand a single prospectus sent to me. I can't get them delivered electronically fast enough to spare a forest full of trees from becoming pulp.)

*Sound familiar? LOL

What Smile

Do you have any idea what you may be paying in fees? I hope that your FC breaks that down for you at least annually, if not quarterly.

What happened here do you suppose, or should I say who??

“Neftekamskneftehim” is the largest oil refinery in Europe. It is located in Tatarstan, Russia and today, at 7.00pm Moscow Time, dozens of firemen were urgently summoned as the oil giant started burning. More photos and videos inside.

Yes, I do understand the fees. LOL It is all based on my total net worth. He certainly does well for himself, I must say. At least I've seen pictures of a really nice boat he owns!

And of course, everytime they buy or sell, they make money. That's where the puts and calls come into play. I actually do understand a bit more than I am letting on. Remember— I was there at MLPF&S in Stamford, CT, "Black Monday", Oct '87 in the wire room when things went south! Talk about overtime! Ha! I also worked compliance for the OP Manager of MLPFS in Bloomfield, Michigan as a temp, too. That was fun! Ha. That is where I learned what bastards these brokers can be! OMG. I have stories to tell! And the trail of tears... brutal, really, when money is your only product, it brings out the worst in some people.

Amazing how you pulled that Goldman Sachs resignation piece up, just like that. Uncanny. Exactly! What that guy said! I feel fortunate that I deal with a small firm, two partners really. And they came recommended by my brother.  What he says about trust is key. If you screw your clients you can't stay in business! They steered me right with some bonds earlier. We had a good run, is how they said it. LOL I have no reason to complain... yet! Teeth SmileSince what they said to me last week or so, is pretty much  what I read in the paper this morning, I think they must have a handle on things.

And I certainly hope so, because if I wanted to know everything they know about the finance world I would just have to get a Series 7 myself. Not for me, no way! One of the happiest days of my life was when I quit that job in Stamford! OMG. The OP manager that hired me, a decent and fun kind of guy, was promoted out and his replacement was Mimi the Dragon Lady. Suffice to say, we did not appreciate one another to the fullest. Ha!

This just in....

...RELIEF RALLY: The volatility comes after the S&P 500 closed at a record high on Friday, then posted its biggest decline in a month on Monday. That has left investors trying to figure out whether stocks are overvalued or whether they reflect an improving economy.

....
GOING FOR RISK: Bond and gold prices fell as traders moved money out of safe-play assets. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note rose to 2.68 percent from 2.60 percent late Monday.

Moscow: Russia said it had successfully test-fired an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile on Tuesday, with tensions high over its seizure of control in the Crimea and its threat to send more forces to its neighbour Ukraine.

There is a nice video on this page of the  two forces meeting in a friendly manner.
