Where I am at, the boxes contain loose chicken quarters. They're not in bags.

Nan - I have heard that soaking does remove some of the sodium. I've never tried it, though. I can get the Gold Leaf easily, but if for some rason I no longer can then I will try the soaking.

Yes Ramage and you can add some apple cider vinager to your soaking water and get all sorts of stuff out;  plus healthy for dogs.  My old skinny boy does not like the vinager so I don't do it all the time but sometimes and definitely soak the chicken feet in water and vinager.  also helps to get rid of bacteria not wanted and vinager breaks up built up stuff in joints.  Helps.  Great days,  Nan

Backs and necks .25 lb (comes in 40 lb boxes) They sometimes have 10lb bags on sale for .46lb
Leg quarter .58lb (comes in 40lb boxes) NOT soaked in sodium... fresh from the chicken plant.

All are available at the resturant supply place. You can also order beef hearts .85lb (80lb cases), they have green tripe (really don't know who would eat this ? but 1.00 lb)

This place has the best meat anywhere in town. We get much of OUR regular meat from them.

Chicken Quarters - $0.24/lbs right from a farmer (by the 20 lbs case)
Beef - free (local farmer who raises his own steers, preps them, butchers them, and sells them - yes, he is licensed)

In Luray Va you can get Backs for .45 cents a pound. Last summer they were .29 cents a pound. They come in 40 lb boxes. They will cut them into 4 peices if you ask. washingtonlamb.inc

Nans gsd,

When you say the innards you're talking of that little package of neck, gizard, heart right? And you feed that raw? Or do you do something to it? I'll wait for an answer before I say the second part?

could i just feed my dog a whole raw chicken without cutting it up?

@ lovejags

" could i just feed my dog a whole raw chicken without cutting it up?"

You COULD, but that would be entirely too much meat for a single feeding (thinking the average chicken is 3 - 4 lbs fully cleaned and prepped for human consumption, a little heavier not prepped.)
