vonHoss GSD

by vonHoss GSD on 07 September 2008 - 12:09

My male had pano when he was about 6 months old. The vet told me it was from too much protein in his food.  He was still eating Large Breed Puppy at the time.  I switched to Large Breed Adult and it solved the problem in about a week.

Pano is genetic and some lines are very affected by it.  It can happen frome 3 months to 6 years in GSD.  One of my dog went uncouncious twice from too much pain..It was heartbreaking but he had one crisis and it never happened again.

I had another female who stated at 4 month until 2 years had on-off periods..all her puppies did the same.

Now I have a female who never limped once in her life and her puppies looks like they are free from pano.

It's a pretty annoying kind of problem during training.  You have to remember something..even if they train you are not going to make it worse.  Only thing you can do is  give anti-inflammatory during the crisis and reduce the protein intake (if you are feeding high protein diet).

But it is genetic..no doubts about that!!
