Our friend makes them so I don't know exactly how they are put together. I think he actually gets them made in a factory somehow, we've only made a few for ourselves. I'll ask him next time he comes down.

Thanks I'd appreciate any info you can provide. I'd think a blind 1/3 the size would be cheaper but the mini blinds I've seen are almost as expensive as the full size ones.
