ShelleyR

This dog, who I have named Banjo (Deliverance sound track association intentional) and two other dogs, Bella (now Reba) and Goofy (needs a respectable name) are boarding at Play N Stay to await transport to me here on the prune ranch. :-)

Now we need to work on transport. At $15./dog/day I can't leave them in boarding long, not that I want to anyway. The sooner they get here the sooner they get great forever homes. We've been having a lot of success placing dogs in super homes lately. Feel free to donate here: www.sutterbuttesworkingdogs.org
The site is still under construction, but I should be able to finish most of it this weekend and Mon-Tues next week. I can't WAIT to get the Happy Tails page with all the pix and nice comments from adoptive "parents" up!  You can find updated information on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/SutterButtesWorkingDogRescue?fref=ts

NOTE- We are NOT yet a registered 501c3 non-profit, so donations are "gifts" at this point, not tax deductible. I can assure you however, there is no freaking profit, only losses. I work a moonlighting job to fund most of the rescue program, selling my last two weeding rings to buy welded wire kennel runs, rubber mats, plywood for partitions/roofs and sides and dogloos.  Rescue dogs tend to be expert escape artists...
No Christmas here this year, but I wouldn't trade the satisfaction of making a perfect match adoption for a dog that was only hours or minutes from death in a kill shelter, for the world.

I am one happy woman to finally have the place to do this labor of love, and a few friends dedicated to the cause to help here and there.
Here are the other two dogs pulled for us yesterday. The black one is only a year old, dumped back in the kill shelter after being adopted as an 8 week old pup, left in the backyard all his life, not house-broken or anything, apparently good with other dogs and small children. . :-(
Owner surrender excuse "We're moving."
Merry Christmas dog.

We don't have a story on the sable female, just an apporximate age of 2-3 yrs. and that she is dog-friendly.

Reba

Goofy (for now)

"No Christmas around here"?  Aw, hell, Shelly, you don't need any more 'stuff' anyway, right?  And I can't think of a better use for obsolete engagement & wedding rings...that's what I did with mine, too--sold 'em and donated the $$$ to rescue.  Seemed fitting--my longest and most stable relationships have been with my GSDs, not humans, after all. Thumbs Up

Check the rescue's "stocking". I think you'll find a little Christmas there for the dogs. Good job, woman.

Thanks all, and especially thanks to Auntie Hexe from the dogs. Here are Freedom pix of two of the three above taken today, and the results of my little trip to Tractor Supply tonight. I didn't get a Christmas tree yet, but this stuff won't fit under it anyway and my rescue miscreants would just rip the tree down and trash it given half a chance. We'll civilize that dog yet. ;-We'll have Freedom pix of Banjo tomorrow.

Good work, Shelley...off these three go, onward to the start of their new lives!  May they all find their forever people this time!

Thanks Hexe. I am very excited about saving these nice dogs. Now--- to get them the 450 miles north to me!
Banjo brought some virulent kennel cough with him out of the shelter, but he's getting the Heavy Guns meds regime, as is Sarge here on the prune ranch, so they'll both be in good shape within a week or two.

"No Christmas .. . .  .??????"
Isn't this what Christmas is all about???  Bless you, Shelley, and all who help God's creatures, great and small!
