If anyone cannot place the Pups why breed in the first place
For me the only reason to ever breed Dogs is to try and better the breed, We know most people breed soley for finacial gain the breeding kennels do of course, But they can mostly get the Pups out of the way if they are a good reputable Kennel
If a person just owns a German Shepherd Dog say for instance like myself, there is no reason at all to breed from it unless that person does it to make money,

Moons,

I did read the questions and as with many threads the topic evolves and branches out to related topics. I did answer the "What would you do?" question. I would lower the price and if that didn't work I'd work with a rescue group to place them. I am not a breeder of GSDs, never have been and never will be. How long would I wait? As long as I possilby could. I did breed horses for 10 years, which was my husband's dream and not mine, but I went along with it until I just couldn't stomach it any more. I am not cut out for it. I wanted to keep them all and when we did sell them I worried about them too much. I loved the training, riding and everyday care, but not the showing or the selling part of it...never again will I breed any animals.  The responsibility is too great and I took it VERY seriously and lost a lot of sleep. I did have one that developed a progressive disease of the hoof and could no longer be ridden. We found a great horse rescue with150 acres of pasture in north Florida that would keep the horse until adopted out. We sent a sizable donation every year to support the horse until someone eventually adopted him as a pet.

What exactly do you want me to ask my dog? I can tell you that she is a rescue and although she seems to have gone through doggie hell in the beginning of her life, she is one very happy girl at this point in her life and I have no regrets about rescuing her. She was a stray on the street, picked up by animal control and thankfully ended up with a rescue organization who made sure to the best of their ability that she went to a home where she was a good match and would get wonderful care. Most rescue groups are very careful about who they adopt out to (I'm not talking about municipal animal shelters- that is a different story). I think if asked her whether or not, if looking back, if she'd rather have been euthanized or gone through doggie hell and end up with me, she'd choose the latter.

I hope you find wonderful homes for your pups. I saw their pics on another thread and they look like little firecrackers! The best of luck to you.

I don't think all animals fear death.

My stepfather wanted to die, he said so, he refused to eat for 3 months. He called us all to him and told us that he was in too much pain to live and was very happy to be rid of it. He died a few hours later.

I believe that some animals also see death as a relief.

No one should ever breed from any Dog unless they have homes for them to go to Planned homes prior to the breeding , Certainly not ordinary people who are not well known in the Breeding world of the German shepherd because they simply do not have the contacts should they have Pups left spare,
And i would never give a Pup away just for the sake of getting rid of it, I did that with racing pigeons years ago No value was placed on then by some, they thought they were no good and sold them for money to  fanciers who then got them, then did very well indeed in the sport, so nothing for nothing in live stock all has a value even if it is just a rearing value
Have you thought about passing them on as a Police Dog or for a Guide Dog i expect they will have to be assessed and probably not yet old enough to have that done but you could contact these people now and explain the situation to them and ask.
If taken you would know they would be looked after and probably help someone,If they agree and you have to keep them a while then give them a little basic training when you have the time to help the Pups along the way

I don,t believe that dogs know per say that this the "last ride to the vets for me" but because they are so acutley perceptive of our emotions and feelings that they know that we are very troubled and read that on us... When I had to put my Barron down a year ago my vet came to my home and gave him his shots he followed me to the back yard I played with him alittle and called him to me my vet gave him the first shot to relax him and after a couple minutes gave him a second shot it took a couple minutes but he laid beside me and leaned against me leg as his breathing slowed he did look at me he knew I was in pain but did he know I was putting him to sleep ? I,ll find that out after it,s my turn to walk the bridge but he went to a better place. We need to be as good as our dogs think we are...
