you need not look past the dogs out of standard color, or coat length, to see that they SHOULD NOT be considered German Shepherds. Just because the "Almighty" AKC will still call the GSD's, does not mean they are. Or at least what they should be.
Can someone please show me one white gsd from Germany? Come on people, thats the country of origin. Why dont we see any whites coming from the homeland of the breed?

Fletcher:
All screaming does, is show the complete lack of logic that your postion takes. Color is irrelevant. White GSDs are genetically identical without any untowad health effects.. The Nazi's ousted the whites from Germany for their own reasons. Max didn't like any solid color - pure white OR pure black. The old circulating notion was that whites were of lesser quality in health. Science has proved that to be untrue.
Whites are just as much GSDs as colored dogs - and have been around since Horath. That's just something you're going to have to live with., as much as it seems to bother you. Frankly, your intolerance is somewhat disturbing in it's vehemence and remedy of excising a color from an entire breed - it is not much difference from of the mindset of the Nazis, come to think of it. (and this is not a case of Godwin, it's a case of absolute intolerance for a color without ANY logical rationale, a very Nazi-like position to take)

Screaming gets peoples attention. As i did yours. Makes me wonder if you had not owned a white shepherd if you would take the stance you have.
Health is only one measure of the dog. What about working ability? I see all kind of black/tan, sable, bi-color, and black dogs in all types of working venues. How many whites do you see even doing half of that?
You keep trying to convince others that color doesnt matter, and i will keep showing people that it does.
BREED FOR CHARACTER, NOT COLOR.
i know how you like it when i scream.

ps,,, get your eyes checked, its john not jim, and letcher not fletcher. your childish attempts at humor only make your attempts at your cause all that less notable.

BTW, the "standard" as you put it, included whites frm the beginning - it was the Nazis that ousted whites from registration. Remember, Max wanted non-solid colors - ergo, blacks would also be a fault, by his standard.

but really, dont try and tell everyone, that just because you have a wonderful white shepherd that color should not matter.
dont you think if color didnt matter we would see the SV, as well as other breed registries, allow whites?

I love my white dogs, sure, but I also have had a black and tan and have just placed an order for another colored one. Color is not the sole issue (although in my view, from the research I have done, there is less HD in the whites) - the whites are in my home for a very specific reason - and it is not an emotional one - it relates to my work.
Nope - ad hominem is not working. Try logic.

JUST READ THE STANDARD OF TODAY.
from the AKC website
"Color
The German Shepherd Dog varies in color, and most colors are permissible. Strong rich colors are preferred. Pale, washed-out colors and blues or livers are serious faults. A white dog must be disqualified."
i guess that says it all

=Faults=
Faults include anything that impairs working versatility, endurance and working competency, especially lack of sex characteristics and temperament traits contrary to the German Shepherd Dog such as apathy, weak nerves or overexcitability, shyness; lack of vitality or willingness to work; monorchids and cryptorchids and testicles too small; a soft or flabby constitution and a lack of substance; fading pigment; blues, albinos (with complete lack of pigmentation, e.g. pink nose, etc.) and whites (near to pure white with black nose); over and under size; stunted growth; high-legged dogs and those with an overloaded forechest; a disproportionaltely short, too refined or coarse build; a soft back, too steep a placement of the limbs and anything depreciating the reach and endurance of gait; a muzzle that is too short, blunt, weak , pointed or narrow and lacks strength; an over-or undershot bite or any other faults of dentition, especially weak or worn teeth; a coat that is too soft, too short or too long; a lack of undercoat; hanging ears, a permanently faulty ear carriage or cropped ears; a ringed, curled or generally faulty tail set; a docked tail (stumpy) or a naturally short tail.
