I hate dial up!  I waited forty five minutes, and couldn't wait any longer.

But in all fairness, ( and I only saw the first 2 minutes of Apache) did the helper turn and put the run on Apache like he did to the other dog in the first video?

This is a stupid argument that goes on and on.

Show dogs that can work WELL are few and far between. I have never met one I would bet my life on.

As for Ivan's dog. You are talking about one of the best trainers in the world. He can take any halfway decent dog a long way. Did you notice the score? Ivan is a business man. How much do you think he can get for that dog now?

On a side note; That dog was SLOOOOOW.

The show dog as a German Shepherd is an Oxymoron;-)

by VonKohlenBerg on 02 March 2009 - 04:03

ATARTHS, are you serious "trotting dog". The GSD was never bred to be a trotting dog, it was bred to be a working dog.
Quote "Do you have any idea what kind of skeleton a long distance runner has to have?" Are you saying that if you do not have a specific type of skeleton you cannot run long distances? If so, how do those people who have lost a leg manage to run long distances on artifical limbs? Or what about really short legged people, should they not even bother with running?

Using your logic, in your magical world, you could put together a professional basketball team without holding a single tryout. You would just look for really tall black guys. Unfortunately for you we do not live in Narnia. In the real world, FORM FOLLOWS FUNCTION. Nowhere else in nature do we see such horrible distortions in structure as we do with breeders of show dogs.

Ok this is a topic that is getting a little stale.yes there are some showlines that can work  but majority can not .whereas working line majority can work and some can't and if some can not understand that then there is no hope for you.by the way for the person who said Iwan is a world class trainer, what number did he come at with this show dog and what was his protcection score. have a nice one.

Even Ivan has to have "for shits and giggles" moments. Waching that dog, was like watching paint dry. Eh. Maybe he lost a bet. LOL

"trotting dog" lol you making me laugh. If you think dog's that attend to sheep trot all the time than you have another thing coming lol. Just another excuse to breed over angulated dogs. Name few other breeds that are over angulated trotting dog’s that are design to attend live stock. GSD is a jack of all trades and by ignoring working ability of GSD’s we will turn him into joke of all trades.
