RS, thank you for the bat post, I like bats.

You're very welcome Travels. I really like them too. One time I was pulling a book out of the kids book shelf to read them and a little brown bat flew out and smacked me in the head so hard it knocked itself out. We picked it up, had a good look and learning session, then let it go outside. Never would I kill those little mosquito eating machines.

So what is the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, and what does it say?
The first RFRA was a 1993 federal law that was signed into law by Democratic president Bill Clinton. It unanimously passed the House of Representatives, where it was sponsored by then-congressman Chuck Schumer, and sailed through the Senate on a 97-3 vote.
The law reestablished a balancing test for courts to apply in religious liberty cases (a standard had been used by the Supreme Court for decades). RFRA allows a person's free exercise of religion to be "substantially burdened" by a law only if the law furthers a "compelling governmental interest" in the "least restrictive means of furthering that compelling governmental interest."
So the law doesn't say that a person making a religious claim will always win. In the years since RFRA has been on the books, sometimes the courts have ruled in favor of religious exemptions, but many other times they haven't.

And by the way our current president voted for it as a state legislator in his home state...

USA in front of the world? No one ever gives your mental illness a thumbs up or 'yay for the deranged mountain liar!' You are all alone in your quest here, so why not stick with your like minded psychos and join a chat room where your stupid cartoons come from. Or is being chastised titillating and the real reason you put the stupid crap on here....you are out of place, go find trash that you resemble.

Here ya go ML:
Indiana's law differs substantially from all other RFRAs. ALL others deal with transactions with the government, Indiana's applies to individuals. But FOX doesn't tell you that part and neither do any of the right wing rags, so it isn't surprising that ML is, once again, misinformed.

Again, now, the Religious Freedom Restoration Act 1993, which gave religious objectors a statutory presumptive entitlement to exemption from generally applicable laws. Let me translate that for you. In 1993 Congress enacted the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which gave people the religious right to invoke their religious principles and be exempt from applicable laws in the process if they were in fact invoking religious principles.
That's all that Indiana has done here, has simply affirmed that on a state basis, which many other states have done before. When Bill Clinton signed this bill back in 1993, let me read to you what he said. (imitating Clinton) "The power of God is such that even in the legislative process miracles can happen." That's what Bill Clinton said. Kid you not.

Try looking at the actual legislation ML, instead of using RW hate sources. LOOK at the evidence, instead of denying it for a change. This law is not the same, the RFRA dealt only with interaction between entities and government, not indiduals. This law, unlike the others, would allow businesses to discriminate against anyone they deem to be violating their religion. Not, mind you, someone who is forcing them to violate their religion, but just someone who isn't adhering to it. That's not freedom of religion, that's oppression.
And you know damned well why I brought up a blow job, because THAT would be violating your religion, not baking a cake, taking a picture or fixing a car. And the last time I checked, I've never seen a story like that, have you? If so, please post the link, I'd love to see it. Show me where someone was forced into an act of homosexuality when they were asked to provide a service to homosexuals, for a service that is open to the public. How are they violating their religion, exactly? And don't throw Bible passages at me because those passages are speaking to the individual reading it, it's not a public edict. We are not living in the Middle East and relgion is not part of our laws, it's our choice. So, again, just how is someone violating their religion by serving someone in the public who they percieve to not agree with said religion? Are they going to require Baptimal Certificates in order to do business or will a simple questionaire do? Can we refuse to serve anyone who's been divorced? Can we refuse to do business with anyone who has had a child out of wedlock? How far does it go? Where does it end? Why do you revel in division? Why would that make you "happy"? I don't understand that kind of logic, it just makes no sense at all, you seem to enjoy trying to make people's lives miserable and then accusing everybody of being miserable when they object. Why would you approve of bullying anyone in the public arena when they have broken no laws? Why would you champiion it? How does it harm you or affect you at all? How does it harm anybody? Who's being harmed and how? Please be specific.
Funny ML, that everybody else in the country is able to see the distinction execpt for anybody on the right side of the aisle. Did you watch Pence dodge the question numerous times? Did you see it in living color? And the minions parrot the misinformation with such self-righteousness it's nauseating.
