Our system needs an overhaul, but one which extends opportunity, power, and voice to any and every citizen willing to make something of it.
I sure am listening. There are just so many "institutions" or just "institutionalized thinking" that makes it hard for the lay person to grab a hold on. Once that starts, one has to be sure what it is, that drives us all. A very hard task, indeed. In a decision making capacity, I am addressing, lest this gets misconstrued.
Oh and, I am aware you made a distinction between every citizen vs. every willing citizen ....

US government has spent over 100 BILLION in Afghanistan for schools, electrical plants, hospitals, and other infrastructure projects. This does not include the money spent on military and security forces. Think of what good that money would have done spent on projects to help our infrastructure. What congress deems "good investment" boggles the mind........
