:(
This guy breeds shepherds and sells them Canadian kennel club registered. We just went with that.
Plus he said thy were showline with straight back with no hip displasia. We paid about $1300 Canadian for the puppy.
Thank you for the reply joanro. Was it a question or telling me the obvious that I foolishly missed? Lol. Sorry didn't understand.

Oh boy....
Livefree, "straight-back" is a red flag. That's kind of a dead giveaway that it's a backyard breeder. No knowledgeable breeder would ever use that term. Hip dysplasia is partly genetic, partly environmental...both need to be considered to stack the deck in your favor. It has less than nothing to do with their conformation, and again, equating the two screams of inexperience, ignorance, or a sales pitch from a BYB. Demand to see the hip and elbow certifications on both parents. You don't have the pup yet, so is the pup already paid for? I was thinking you'd only lose a deposit if you bailed out. Although I think you should get the deposit back since the pup is not what you asked for.

Honest question here.
My male is a regular stock coat and his coat looked just like this pup when he was that age.

Yea I guess if I bailed I'd lose the deposit as I hadn't picked up the puppy yet. He will be 8 week in two weeks and that's when I pick him up.
This dog will be our first and a family member that will live with us for 15 or so years. I don't want to make a mistake picking a wrong one.
Knighthawkranch, do you have any pictures to share please? Your puppy and adult now?

Honestly, livefree, I would ask the seller to either guarantee the dog is not coated or refund your deposit. He is only 6 weeks old- he can sell him to someone who wants a coated puppy. Also, ask about those joint certs. Those two things alone are good reason to decline this pup, cute as he may be. You aren't getting him super cheap- a certain standard should apply. JMO.
