Hey RS, if you LIVE your religion and go about your business, RESPECTING THE RIGHTS OF OTHERS, nobody would call you out on the hypocrisy, because there would be no hypocrisy.  But when you use your religion to attempt to FORCE OTHERS into living your it, you're being a BIGOT, it's that simple.

And?  What was the purpose of posting Barak Obama's opinion from the past?  I really don't care if he'd continued to keep that opinion, but it seems to me, he actually changed because the majority of Americans changed their minds on the issue.  BUT, our civil rights are not to be voted upon, we are born with them, so politician's opinions mean squat, when it really comes down to it and the SCOTUS made the right decision.  I'm really happy for our brothers and sisters who have fought long and hard to enjoy a privilege that the rest of us have taken for granted.  Let Freedom Ring

Red,

Sure lots is going to change, it does everyday. But those changes won't lead to rapture. Isn't it really on gays whether God sees this as a sin? So, why does it bother you and Christians so much? You aren't God, let God punish them, isn't that what your God does? Punish those who are different? Their life isn't your life. What I see from the outside looking in is Christianity is a very insecure religion. Any change or difference is a threat to them and must be met with resistence, war and death. Native Americans had their own religion and Gods - Christians couldn't handle that fact so they slaughtered them and oppressed them. Woman having a say was also seen as a threat - so oppress them. Islam - seen as a threat - oppress them. Then you wonder why extremism is born.

Travels,

I agree with you 100%. I just can't write it as well as you.

As recently as the early 1960's, anti-miscegenation laws were enforced in 41 of the 50 states with couples getting convicted and sent to prison for anywhere from 5-10 years for marrying outside their race.  That was the "nicer" consequence.  Scripture was used to support anti-miscegenation laws and when Love vs. Virginia overturned the anti-miscegenation laws in this country, people were expecting the rapture or at least a Sodom and Gomorra like retaliation from God.  Now that the majority will of the people has been made law by making marriage equality the law of the land, consenting adults who are in love can marry no matter who they are or whom they love.

This country was founded on religious freedom, as in the freedom to practice religion and worship as one chooses, whether Christian, Quaker, Puritan, Catholic, Protestant, Buddhist, Jewish, etc.  Separation of church and state was the forefathers' wish so no one religion could be used to dictate laws and how this country's people were to believe and live.  There are plenty of countries where religious law of one particular brand of religion is the law of the land, think Sharia Law.  This country keeps civil rights and religious freedom separate for all to enjoy.  Marriage equality is a civil rights issue not a religious issue.  People seem to confuse civil rights with religious freedom.  They are two separate things, religious freedom can not trump civil rights.  As I am so happy for marriage equality since I have LGBT friends that can now legally marry, I respect the beliefs of others who feel this is a sin.

wonder how many of those old white biggots against marrying black and white fathered children to black women while they preached against it, adultery, rape, not taking responsibility for your mixed race illegitimate children are OK with god but two people of mixed race who live each other were not allowed to marry.
