Larhage,
Sounds like you love him very much,I have till FRi Dec 9th to decide .I can't stand a dog out in Northern Michigan weather even with a dog house I'm seriously thinking about her. Sounds like xbox has a great temperment. Thanks for your input.
If you decide to get her ( sure hope you do ) update with pics..:)
Deanna..:)
Ruger1,
We have decided to get her because our older male shepherd has fought anal fistulas all his life and its taken it toll, meds are not working as well so we will pick her up next week and I will definetly post pics .Thanks much .
hello malshep, Xbox has a pretty good reputation. When I was considering breeding my female, he was on the list I compiled for studs. I had conversations with his breeder, his trainer as well as some who had bred or had progeny from him. Also saw several progeny.
It always comes down to the individual dog, but it will not be surprising if you are getting a good dog.
best and good luck,
Rik
Rik,
Thanks! Always nice to hear from people with first hand knowledge.Thank you all very much !!!!!
4mals2sheps..Sorry to hear about your male.. Sometimes a new dog can help with that pain..:) Glad to hear that your getting her..:) We will be waiting for an update...
Deanna..:)
I've met Xbox, watched him work (in Schutzhund training, not one of those show tests), touched him, etc and have seen him in actual shows. In my opinion he is a very stable, happy kind of dog. I did not care for his work (IMO just lacked the real raw power, drive, and aggression I'm looking for, but in his defense was a lot better than most show lines and some working lines) but in all other contexts I did not see anything like suspicion, being snappy, nervy, etc. We did some ring training and his handler allowed us to practice with him, showed us how he gets groomed, and we played with him and touched him. He struck me as a very happy, safe, great pet type dog, good size and coat, masculine but not too large or too heavily boned. I have seen so many of his progeny, probably dozens, both in various types of training or at shows or being owned by friends/acquaintances and they are all very beautiful, type-y show line dogs. Haven't seen an ugly one yet. Never saw any behavior issues from them (again just not the level of drive and intensity I'm personally looking for regardless of line). If I wasn't so into training/working dogs I'd be more than happy with an Xbox dog as a pet or for some more mild training. I like and own show lines and working line alike, hold all my dogs to the same standard.
Thanks VKGSDs, nothing like someone with on hand experience.I'm into a dog that will be a good pet first who will fit in with my horses and the pack. I appreciate all an any info! pickup day is Tues .I'm hoping that the house training problem can be solved by watching and learning what makes her tick. Thanks to all again!!! Keep it coming I love postive input.
I have two Xbox litters due on Christmas and I chose this male because he produces great progeny with good structure and impeccable temperaments. Along with health, these are very important considerations when looking for breeding partners for my girls. I was there for the breedings and Xbox is an incredible male, very stable and structurally excellent. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a dog that seems to have it all.
Judy
4mals2sheps, I'm glad to hear you decided to take this girl...I suspect you'll solve her 'housebreaking issues' readily with nothing more than your attentiveness to her needs and an open heart for her. Looking forward to hearing your first impressions of her--I'm sure she's drop-dead gorgeous, no doubt, but I'm betting she's a pretty sharp cookie, too, and will be a real 'sponge' when it comes to picking up what you teach her.
I am sorry that the meds are failing your older fellow in keepin his fistulas under control; might I ask what treatment regimens he's been on?
